The thought of facing Salty's for breakfast is more than I can stand.

Yeah. I was going to write in and complain about the hipster and yuppie bias that kept almost all mention of diners and pancake houses out of the article. Where was Cyndy's House of Pancakes on Aurora? Pancake Chef in Sea-Tac (now there's some biscuits and gravy)? Pancake Corral in Bellevue?

5-spot's biscuits and gravy is pretty good, if you like massive amounts of onion. The gravy is far too tangy in my opinion.

I'm also partial to CJs in Belltown.

Pancake Corral is still there? That's nice to know. I'd assumed it had been demolished in favor of something "upscale" or "world class". I've had no use for Bellevue since they tore down the Dairy Queen.

The Olympic Hotel used to do a Sunday Brunch that would make Salty's look like a McDonalds Big Breakfast. I'm not sure if they still offer it anymore.

CJ's does rock. I love the Eggs Benedict, which is only served on weekends.

With all due respect to [name redacted], I happen to know that he used to and may still work at 5 Spot. (He was not there the last time I was there.) And before he worked at Hi-Life, just up the street from Senor Moose.

The only reason to take the trek over to Salty's on the weekend is if you simply want to pig-out on the all-you-can eat seafood, and just skip the rest of the brunch entirely.

In which case, it almost becomes a bargain.

There are two things I miss about living in Bellevue: Casa D's and Pancake Corral. Man, that place ruled.

While I've never had bacon at the 5 Spot (vegetarian, duh), and their dinner can occasionally not be worth as much as they charge for it, I have NEVER had a bad breakfast there. And their Irish coffees are perfect. Yum.

I am just glad they didn't mention Ray's Boathouse for bloody marys (or brunch). Cause then it would be even more crowded there on the weekends. Their Bloody marys are the best in the city.

And pancake corral is the shit.

What is WITH everyone and fucking bacon? I hate bacon. It’s bacon this, bacon that, all the gd time, everywhere I go! When did it become so fucking hip to profess your unyielding love for bacon at every single gd opportunity?

ENOUGH already! Can we talk about sushi or something else, lard asses.

Bacon has totally jumped the shark. Please find a new nasty food to obsess about.

PS. have you seen how pigs are raised? do you care? do you know what compassion is? kthxbai.

Well, I don't know about you yuppie, metrosexual pond scum, but I've been raising hogs for the better part of 40 years now. Kill 'em and butcher 'em myself too. Good eatin', and the best and freshest bacon you'll ever have. If you city pukes ever want a good meal, come on by. I'll make you work for your supper, though.

If you're vegetarian (or kosher, or merely agree that everything should taste like bacon), grab Bacon Salt. http://baconsalt.com/

It's sitting on my kitchen counter right now.

And yet again, sadly ignored, is Issaquah's 12th Ave Cafe, home of the Montana Hash, which makes me cry with happiness when I eat it. A small will yield breakfast and lunch, and it reheats great.

There are a few downsides to the 12th Ave: no hash browns, no liquor, and it's in Issaquah. But the Montana Hash is totally worth it.

Roxy's Deli in Fremont ... my friend from Brooklyn said it's the only place in town that comes close to a NY deli. (Come early, though, or all of the choice bagels will be sold out.) There have plenty of hardy, inexpensive breakfast foods and sandwiches for the non-kosher among us, too.
