What Happens When You Throw a Dinner For the Pope at the White House and He Refuses to Attend?

posted by on April 11 at 14:46 PM

The Bush administration is about to find out:

The White House has scheduled a dinner next week in honor of Pope Benedict XVI’s first visit to the United States, but one guest will be conspicuously absent from the proceedings: the pope himself.

There are no competing events listed on the pope’s schedule, and the White House was unable to explain Benedict’s absence from the dinner.

The Pope doesn't attend dinners hosted by Torturers, or Apostate Liars who Hate God.

Two things that mean he won't be at the White House.

Guess they won't have to observe fish Friday after all.

Considering the Pope gave up eating BBQ Iraqi baby, this comes as no surprise.

Metaphysicists warned that so much evil concentrated in one place could rip open a wormhole to hell. Hence, they’ll be dining separately.

Wow, you really know things are in bad shape over at 1600 Pennysylvania, when even ex-Hitler Youth members won't be seen in public with you.

Well - actually he did have a conlict of engagements. But no one is aware he is a youth minister and he clearly does not want to advertise the activities he has planned for that evening. Ask some young'uns. They'll tell you...

Aigh. I am so sick. It's SLOG's fault!

Was it disgust with Cheney or contempt for Kissinger?

Has there been anything on Slog today about the naked woman reflected in Cheney's sunglasses while he was 'fishing on the Snake river'?

I've always said the current Pope had an evil look about him. It's pretty sad when the Most Evil Man In The World (tm) won't have dinner with The Most Evil And Despised Ruler Of A Supposedly Democratic, Free Nation (tm).

I hope Bush understands this for the slap it is, but I doubt he has the gray matter to do so. He's not Catholic, what does he care if the Pope ignores him? As long as Laura calls him her "pole-monkey" he'll continue with business as usual. Pass that man a double vodka tonic! Let's make some policy!

Yee-haw!

Man, dissed by the Nazi pope. Just how lame of a lame duck president of the most powerful nation on earth do you have to be to get ignored by the pope? And Pope Rat isn't even making up a polite excuse for cover. Just "no thanks, not interested". That's gotta hurt.

Hmmm, a double-vodka martini sounds good right about now. Make mine Skyy. Now can I have another look at those plans for invading the Vatican?

The White House can't explain his absence? I think the American people need to explain it to the White House...
How sad when the world leader of the church of pedophilia doesn't want to be associated with you...

Maybe he thought the White House chefs would be incapable of creating a meal that would transubstantiate.
