Oh, lighten up. This is a nice outlet for grammar freaks and it's not hurting anyone. If you had to spend large amounts of your working life correcting other people's hideous spelling and grammar, you'd get a kick out of this too.

Gillian: I cannot discern the difference between menu 1 and menu 2 - what is/was the error?

After all that, they missed a typo in picture 1 (grill should be capitalized). If you're going to be snarky, be thorough as well...

My favorite typo (or at least sentence that could benefit from added punctuation) is the sign on the Jehovah's Witnesses' building in Brooklyn, right before you get on the Brooklyn Bridge:

READ GOD'S WORD THE HOLY BIBLE DAILY

My latest pet peeve is people who try to make a possessive out of "you guys" -- "your guys'" or "you guys'". Is it wrong to want to punch people who do this?

@9 Quit hijacking the thread with your immature nonsense.

On-topic question: Should there really be a dash in "X-Files"?

At the 145th St exit, there was a sign that said, "Chid care. Opne 24 hours. DSHS excepted." My head nearly exploded.

There's a sign along the Burke Gilman (@ what would be about NE 82nd, if you extended the street through the sand point country club and fairway estates) from the Parks & Rec Dept that has a misspelled word. I don't remember the word, but this is my tip to them to go check it out. I briefly wondered if all similar signs from the Parks & Rec produced at about the same time had the same error, but couldn't be bothered to find out.

Delicous apples are a local variety in Portland...and they're damn testy!

As long as they stay away from the I.D. I'm cool with it.

Engrish should be accepted as it's own unique language that makes all of our lives better.

As a constant perpetuator of typos here on SLOG; these people are my nemeses(es? s'? SEE?).

Also, the first thing I noticed about their blog is a funky n- dash (bad spacing theirs).

Also also, to a degree, signage has to get a free pass - there's a variety of reasons one wouldn't follow the King's English to the letter when trying to communicate to passing cars, or when submitting type to an engraver, or broadcast a message to not only native English speakers.

This should be like Scrabble: If these guys confront you with a typo, but their challenge is substantiated, they lost a turn (finger).

Ha ha ha, I meant to say "UNsubstantiated". This is where I'd like to say "oh, the irony", but chances are better than not...

This had been bothering me for weeks. One of the ads for "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" proclaims "You suck Sarah Marshall." I do no such thing, but I may use a Sharpie to add a comma to the ad as I encounter it around town.

while we are correcting shit, that first picture cannot be in tacoma. tacoma's area code is 253 portland is the 503, and that restaurant is in portland.

Perhaps it was intentionally ironic or something, but the picture that Gillian labeled as "Corrected in Tacoma" is actually from Portland, as well.

This is evidenced by the (503) phone number, as well as by actually reading more than just the post title on the linked blog, which explains that the menu was from a burger stand that they stopped at in Portland before heading up to Tacoma.

Reading comprehension is as important as not making typos, methinks.

@20, 21, 22 Also, it's Rip City Grill, Tacoma is no Rip City. Portland is Rip City, so that 's another clue.

Send those people to Japan to correct all the English menus. They'll feel like kids in a candy store.
