do stupid, rural poor people even know or care what the word "elitist" means?
seems to me, once you understand the meaning and connotation of the term "elitist", you're in the strata of society where you are no longer an aw-shucks salt-of-the-earth working class rube and it is embarassing for you to pretend that you give a shit what they would think.
I am a Canadian, and really don't care much about US politics one way or the other. I find the obsession with elitism funny. Any politician, in any country who runs for office is trying to enter an elite. There is nothing wrong with that. I am not that smart and kind of lazy. I don't expect my leaders to be the same.
Know what? I take no offense. People who supposedly aren't elitists, people who wanted 'em a cowboy in the White House, got what they wanted in 2000 and 2004 and yes siree, Bob, their cowboy, an oil scion, a Yale frat boy whose daddy bought him out of service in Vietnam, a good old boy who supposedly isn't an elistist, sure did fuck things up beyond recognition - all the while making himself (indirectly) and his buddies even wealthier than they could have ever dreamed. They're set come what may.
Maybe we need an elitist to unfuck things (if things can be unfucked). And by the way, don't we want our President to have a bit of intellectual superiority and style? We've gone the pork rinds and Mountain Dew route. Where was the payoff in that?
So, c'mon, call us elitists, baby. Coming from you, it's a compliment.
Speaking the truth about the disenfranchised and their love of guns+faith is elitist? All anyone needs to do is go to rural America (that's not West Seattle folks) and stay for a few days, talk to a few people, and you'll see that Mr. Obama hit the nail on the head. Speaking truth to people that have been lied to for so long is a shock.

Where do I order the McCane T-shirts? The ones with the crotchety old guy dressed up like Ronald McDonald and serving billions and billions to Haliburton and Blackwater.
I'd also like a Reagan poster with Calvin for Calvin & Hobbes properly saluting the second worst President ever.
I think it's gonna be tough for McCain--who dumped the wife that raised their three kids while he was a POW in Vietnam for a $100 million trophy heiress--to tag Obama as elitist and a snob. Not saying it can't be done, but I don't think Obama (unlike Gore or Kerry)--raised by a single mom, whose first job was community organizing on the south side of Chicago--is gonna let that one stick.
Urban educated people need to find a way to take this back. Right now (and for the last generation) being an urban northerner and someone who went to college (or horror of horrors, graduate school) is considered an elitist.

Yes, David, and it started as a poster via that pillar of intellect, Michelle Malkin. About two days ago. Glad you are finally catching up.

#2 is right, Schmader--I can't BELIEVE it took TWO WHOLE FUCKING DAYS for an image to make it from Michelle Malkin's blog to Slog.
You guys fucking suck.
PS: What's a Michelle Malkin?

@7: Typical elitism - pointing out that you're Canadian, as in you're *above* the U.S.
It's an intellect thing.
I don't understand
MCCAIN'T SMART ENOUGH
Can I get it without the Obama reference/image? That would be a vaguely amusing T-shirt!

I take great pride in my stupidity and ignorance.

Anyone know where we order these?
Here. There's some amazing shit. (Don't miss the "Saluting Reagan" oil painting.)

Well, that's what Red Bushies do.
