Moved it up because the fundraiser/cocktails thing for laid off Seattle Times employees is tonight. Look for me there—I'll be on the patio doing bong hits with Mike Carter. The Seattle Times is having to lay off a bunch of folks—a lot of newspapers out there are facing hard times. We've had our beefs with the Seattle Times, of course, just as they've had their beefs with us. The mutual beefery will no doubt continue. But no one at the Stranger is delighted to see so many writers and editors lose their jobs. That's why I'm passing... I did not organize it and I apologize for any misunderstanding that took away from the hard work done by Liz Brown and the staff at the Newspaper Guild. I was trying to raise some money from outside the Times and outside the Guild and that's why I reached out to Dan and others and invited them to the fundraiser.
