That is scary!

Posted by Rawkn Betty | April 1, 2008 3:05 PM

when i saw this story earlier i was convinced it was an april fools day joke. but no, it's not a failed joke... it's a failed something else.

This is almost as bad as Bush trying to start a nuclear war by having the Ukraine join NATO ...

Posted by Will in Seattle | April 1, 2008 3:08 PM

She had it coming.

And they say the youth of today are learning nothing useful in school. I am very impressed by the detailed planning since these kids are all classified as learning disabled.

Posted by inkweary | April 1, 2008 3:09 PM

these students really disappoint me. sure, they showed teamwork and creativity. but getting caught so easily? i'd expect that from a second grader.

Posted by infrequent | April 1, 2008 3:10 PM

These children should be put down.

Posted by Greg | April 1, 2008 3:12 PM

This is almost as creepy as the ad next to this comment thread. You know, the one with the pug that looks like it's ODing.

Posted by tsm | April 1, 2008 3:13 PM

Whoa, and it even tries to lick the Milk Bone when you move it. Stop it! Get that shit off my Slog!

Posted by tsm | April 1, 2008 3:15 PM

If these children are our future then I'm just going to bend over and kiss my ass good-bye right now. I am ill at the thought that third graders would plot this and almost succeed.

Posted by PopTart | April 1, 2008 3:23 PM

Hey, what pug? All I get is an ad for Medifast. What's that about? Is Slog calling me fat??????

Posted by PopTart | April 1, 2008 3:24 PM

How humiliating that would have been. Tied up and tortured by a group of SPEDS.

Posted by heywhatsit | April 1, 2008 3:27 PM

@7 - you're not alone... another commenter on the story page had the following to say:

What?! They can't be charged as an adult for planning an adult crime! What is being done about this by the elected leaders of this state? They should remove any age restriction for prosecution as an adult so we can convict these predators and PUT A NEEDLE IN THEIR ARMS. This cuddling as gotten us no where with these hardened criminals. If we don't give out a harsh punishment for these kids, it will only encourage others to do worse. Soon there will be 1st graders bringing loaded guns to school. Oh, that's already happened.

And what about the parents? Shouldn't they be held responsible also? Try them as an accomplice to a felony and put them in prison for a long time. 10 years sounds about right. Bad parents don't deserve to be walking the street with good Christian people.

The above was brought to you by the self-centered, egotists that love to see faults in others but not themselves. No wonder the Rethuglicons are running the state.

When you vote Rethuglicon, you vote against your own best interests. And the GA justice system is living proof.

Posted by kidsthesedays | April 1, 2008 3:35 PM

God. They were only going to kill one teacher. This is the pillow fight tempest all over again.

Posted by elenchos | April 1, 2008 3:37 PM

Send these kids to Gitmo. This is clearly a terrorist act by a well organized sleeper cell. Georgia law is superceded by national security in this case. Load them on a short, yellow boat and send them to Gitmo I say!

Posted by Gabe | April 1, 2008 3:44 PM

They grow up so quickly...

Posted by Wolf | April 1, 2008 3:46 PM

This story was brought to you by media sensationalism. If the kids hadn't been caught, nothing would have happened. And, no, they weren't mad at their teacher for telling a kid not to stand on a chair. That's a reporter punching up the story to make the kids seem more insane.

Posted by toasterhedgehog | April 1, 2008 3:47 PM

hmmm, i'm not so sure this one is primarily sensationalism. and while maybe nothing else would have happened, they did bring tools and weapons to school.

Posted by infrequent | April 1, 2008 4:09 PM

It's stories like these that make me question whether to keep pursuing a teaching credential... Granted, this is extreme, but as a sub, I saw some crazy shit in schools.

Posted by Sylvie | April 1, 2008 4:45 PM

This should have been titled, "Why You Shouldn't Live in the South".

Posted by flyoverstate | April 1, 2008 5:31 PM

@20 wins. Even if my mom lives in the South.

Posted by Will in Seattle | April 1, 2008 6:09 PM

Yeah, except for the fact that here in the good old PNW we had those two girls who poisoned their teacher to get extra time for an assignment.

and I still haven't seen the darn (can we cuss in slog posts?) pug ad. Now my dumb ad is for insurance.

Posted by PopTart | April 1, 2008 6:39 PM

I am not surprised.

... Then again I work in a residential treatment center for 11 to 17 year olds who destroys the phone because we added 5 minutes to cool down time. *Shrugs*

Posted by Marty | April 1, 2008 8:52 PM

Oh shit, I teach third grade. The kids in my class are probably on clubpenguin right now plotting their revenge for having to practice their multiplication facts over spring break.

Posted by bored4life | April 2, 2008 8:35 AM

There are still people against spanking kids. These spoiled little brats need to be spanked at the very least.
