The Pope’s Going Away Present

posted by on April 21 at 9:20 AM

The Vatican official that said this…

“People say these children adopted by same sex couples are very happy. Maybe, when they are one or two years old. But when they are able to think for themselves, when they grow up, what a tragedy when they have to say ‘my parents are two men, or two women’. Their personality, their stability is put at risk.”

died of a heart attack this weekend. Cardinal Alfonso López Trujillo also described gay adoption as “morally violent” act. López wasn’t just charged with spreading lies about gay parents on behalf of the Vatican. He was also the Catholic Church’s point man on spreading lies about the effectiveness of condoms: In 2003 López claimed that HIV can pass right through latex and that condoms didn’t offer any protection against AIDS. His demonstrably untrue statements about condoms drew a condemnation from the World Health Organization. His demonstrably untrue statements about gay parents, however, did not—because, hey, when it comes to committing “moral violence” against children, the world defers to the expertise of the Catholic Church.

I'm reminded of the old aphorism, "it takes one to know one"...

You would think that after all the violent acts toward children that the cat-licks have been involved in, they wouldn't bring it up in any context. I guess you'd be wrong.

Good for homeboy dying of a heart attack though. Too bad he wasn't busted for some sorta child abuse thing first.

I think a lot of kids are also happy to be a Catholic until they can think for themselves as well.

Well now I'm certain we should have just left our daughter in that third-world orphanage. She weighed 14 lbs. when we got her at 12 months of age, but I'm sure she would have gained a bit more over the years, although she never would have had to undergo the "moral violence" of achieving median height and weight or to explain the tragedy of having two dads to anyone. Oh, and of course, in her country of birth she wouldn't have become the Christian that she is today.

@4: or until they're molested by their priests.

Just another bigot we don't have to deal with.

My mother taught me to only speak good of the dead. Cardinal Trujillo is dead. Good.

(shamelessly stolen from Bette Davis, on hearing about the death of Joan Crawford)
