The Other Election

posted by on April 8 at 10:21 AM

When Bob Marley sang these words

Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny,
And in this judgement there is no partiality.
So arm in arms, with arms, we’ll fight this little struggle,
‘Cause that’s the only way we can overcome our little trouble.

…He had this man in mind:

Today, Marley’s song brings the husband of this woman to mind.

The end of the revolution has finally arrived. We had no idea that hell would be its terminal point. Here, the dead fall on the dead and we see “destruction all around.” Sorrow, tears, and blood, “it’s them regular trademark.” We miss you Herbert Chitepo, “where are you?”

It's over, isn't it? We know nobody's going to intervene. Mugabe is murdering an entire country.

I wonder if Mugabe will walk out of office on his own two feet by the power of the people or will he leave office in a coffin by the power of a bullet? I'm thinking the latter.

Charles, I'm assuming that pic is of Chitepo's widow, Victoria?

Why in the hell hasn't South Africa said anything or condemned Mugabe? How much is that fucker paying those leaders to shut up? I can't stand how the African Union doesn't have the fucking balls to do or say anything either. Since 2000, they've presented Zimbabwe's human rights issue to the table without coming to any conclusion or resolution. Clearly other leaders could put pressure on Mugabe and Zimbabwe to release the actual election count and if Mugabe did lose then he must step down and let someone else lead.

i would rather not click on 4 links to get your point. why don't you just write it out: Zimbabwe's suffering will continue as long as Mugabe lives, and likely long after.

loved the Fela reference. And yes things have come full circle. Remides me of the last scene in Animal Farm - the revolutionary pigs have become the oppresive humans.

the only differance between the white settelers of africa and white settelers of america is smallpox

my mothers side settled rhodisha after ww2, both grandma and grandpa were originaly from traverse city michigan my grandmother and my mother left in the mid 70's my grandfather stuck around till 79 before heading to florida himself.....I lost two grand uncle s and an uncle in the bush-war

that is going to be a little rock fight compared to what the communest party of south africa has planned against the white minority after mendela dies. It's best that they all leave NOW while they still can and just wait a generation or two for african insanity to finaly fizzle out in either a dawning of civil society or mass depopulation
