News you couldn't read yesterday:
Candidate XY has lost ten point lead over McCain, now is tied; candidate XX retains lead over McCain.
Thank God we couldn't learn that!
News you can't read today:
Candidate XY tells SF crowd: "You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years. ... And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." Then XY says in Terre Haute this is why working-class voters in Pennsylvania aren't going for him.
Wow. Transcendent unifyer becomes Mr. Snooty Intellectual.
Like Adlai Stevenson/Dukakis/Kerry.
"Why greetings, voters! I too have seen 'Deerhunter' and I, too, can go bowling! Why look at me, understanding and "getting" you! OR do I say "you all" here?
"Believe me, I understand your values. In fact, I understand you have a false consciouness when you cling to guns, God and America! I understand you'all, somuch, in fact, I understand your 'values' are actually psychoses -- and I'm so smart, I understand your psychoses have a material basis! I won't go into Hegel and MArx and stuff, but believe, me, your values are not your fault!!
"So you see, I'm really with you and you should vote for me!!"
Unity, change, condescension -- rah, rah, rah !
@2:
Dude! Hills' not getting the nomination. Get over it already. Thanx!
UnPC, your rants would be more effective if you learned how to write in English.
I suppose we should be thankful that unPC hasn't gotten over Clinton's near-inevitable loss yet. Otherwise, he might start making equally incoherent, repetitious, rambling pro-Obama posts instead, and that would just be embarrassing for all of us.
Probably not, though; he'll just whine and whine and whine until November.
UnPC's rants would be more effective if you could hear her through her white hood.
Hey! Wait. I thought unPC was a woman.
I don't think that's SusanUnPC.
Frankly, I still think the Bush administration is up to something about the November elections. I just can't see them going gently into that goodnight. Now can somebody give me directions to make a tin foil hat to block the US satellites from getting inside my head????
Let me see if I've got this straight.
The Bush admin. is going to attack Iran before the election, declare a state of emergency, and then postpone the election indefinetly.
Right?
I wouldn't worry too much about Bush at this point. He is a double amputee Daffy Duck with basement level approval ratings. When you can't even get a Nazi Pope to accept a dinner invitation at the White House, you're toast.
Last night, I listened to a chick with a Champagne flute in her hand say, "I can't go to the Dalai Lama with a hangover." And she kept filling the glass.
I wonder if he hates his followers?
4 - apart from a misframing of a quote and one typo, I found 2's post quite readable, thank you very much.
3 - It's that kind of Obamaton condescension that is a turn-off to me. And believe me, I have plenty of reason to give up support for Hillary - nastiness, gaffes, and all.
This whole campaign is a grossout. Dems should be kicking major ass over McCain, not running neck and neck with him. If we get McCain out of this, we are most fucking doomed.
Oh, and 9 - I'm sure we've all worn the tin hat while contemplating scenarios. Like: Dem candidate ahead in polls or even wins in November. Then, (a) terrorist attack on US soil and lame-duck Bush declares state of emergency and suspends turning over his office to president-elect, or (b) attack on US forces is attributed to Iran, invasion of Iran occurs, state of emergency declared, Bush/Cheney remain in power.
What do you figure the odds of there being more than one virulently anti-Obama Clinton supporter in the Seattle area posting online with the name UnPC?
I hate to think about it, much less say it, but I'm afraid that, if that happened, that would be the day all those thousands of dollars' worth of guns and ammo of mine justify having a Second Amendment in our Constitution.
Who are you going to shoot first, 5280? Local cop on the beat? The mayor? The meter reader?
Nothing says "I'm a woman who understands your concerns" like paying $1500 for a single hair cut.
Now, Fnarf, I know that you know me a whole lot better than that, so I'll let that one slide.
No, I'm serious, 5280. Who are you going to shoot with this gun and ammo that you've got in the case of, say, Bush declaring martial law? Which is what you were referring to. In the event of a grave threat to the Constitution, your reaction is to talk about how you're going to need your guns. What for?
Obama was dead on about the bitterness of people in the mid-west (everywhere really) who've been struggling in our sh*tty economy. I didn't think it was condescending or elitist.
Why do you think anti-immigrant people are upset about foreigner's "stealing jobs from Americans"? They are misguided in hating immigrants, but they are totally justified in hating rich corporate pigs who either outsource to India/China or exploit illeagals to avoid paying insurance, taxes, Social Security/Medicare, and fair wages.
I support Hillary, but I don't expect Obama to apologize for the truth.
I don't get what is wrong with Obama's statement, it seems dead-on to me.
