@1) Jailing people for homosexuality--because nothing gay ever happens in prisons...

With the hi-five, jail becomes your Disneyland.

Oh, the debauchery!

Don't pay too much attention to your sons, because then they'll turn out gay. But don't pay too little attention to your sons, because then they'll turn out gay. How's a mother supposed to catch a break?

Yeah, send the gay men with AIDS to prison, that's safe.

Prisons being a major vector for the spread of HIV, what with the prison rape and all.

So, is this saying that, if the child turned out to be gay AND hypermasculine (like one of those testosterone-fueled Tom of Norway images), then that would be okay in their eyes?

This is all very confusing - good thing none of it was ever proven to be true, I guess.

Poor Dr. Bieber - must have come as an awful blow to find out his theories were bunk.

if my mom ever read that, I think her head would explode. I'd be willing to bet she is already blames herself for "the wayI turned out."

Also, thank dog I don't live in Egypt. I'd be charged with debauchery in a heartbeat.

Wasn't it GW who lengthened the military tours from 12 to 15 months in the first place? Most news stories I've seen don't mention that. They go along with the charade that GW is shortening tours, when in fact the tours are the same length as before. It's similar to suspending troop reductions, leaving the troop levels exactly where they were two years ago, before the "surge". It's the illusion of change.

A Haiku:

Dear Mama, I'm gay.
But that is OK because
it is all your fault.

Overprotective mothers? What a crock of fucking shit!! My mother stood by and watched while my step father beat the shit out me from the time I was 6 years old and I turned out to be gay. Overprotective my ass!!!

hey cato, he covered all the bases: "In other cases he may be underprotected and rejected." so there. oh, and did your mom pluck her eyebrows? that might have had something to do with making you gay too.

I wonder if they had a special chapter on "raising a lesbian" or if lesbians just "didn't exist" back then?

Posted by Becky | April 10, 2008 11:22 AM

@17) An excerpt from the chapter on lesbianism was up yesterday. According Mr. and Mrs. Wyden's very scientific book, lesbians are the product of puritanical moms and bullying dads. Nothing else. But there are fewer lesbians because they stay in the closet or something.

Haha, thanks for the link.
"Is lesbianism really much less common than male homosexuality? The best evidence suggests that it is."
I'm sure this all footnoted with the very scientific studies in the bibliography, and so forth.

Thanks for the link. Yes, some very interesting scientific theories there.
