Being heavily fortified doesn't mean it never gets attacked. It just means the rebel laser cannons bounce off harmlessly. The green zone is invincible*.
* Invincibility warranty only does not apply to proton torpedo attacks on thermal exhaust. But what are the odds of that?
Welcome back Dan.
I think this is funny.
Ballard Pimp was on the story eight days ago: http://forums.thestranger.com/showthread.php?t=16611
Nobody cares about you dirty forum trash peoplez.
Oh, we'll definitely be seeing this scene. The only question is how soon?
Can I get a Swedish Housewife from the Ballard Pimp?????????
Okay, so read "The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers", Paul Kennedy's brilliant look at the economics of war over the past 500 years (conclusion: the richer nation ALWAYS wins), and then look at the decline of the Dollar vs the Euro, which began almost the very day of the election in 2000. Our economy as a whole is now worth HALF of what it was in 2000. Realize that Paul Kennedy predicted the fall of the Soviet Union, and that he predicts that deficit spending, especially on military build-up, will be the biggest reason for the decline of any Great Power (that's us). Unfortunately, Bush's decisions have cut our strength as a nation in half and while we probably won't see Baghdad fall like Saigon did, it could get really, really bad.
@8,
The richer nation always wins? So, that's why we won Vietnam?
Yeah, and McCain, Dana Perrino, Michael O’Hanlon and all the other Bushbots are starting to make Davros sound like Mr. freakin' Rogers.
And you can always tell the P-I has its priorities in order with today's page one news story above the fold: Drug errors hurt 1 in 15 hospitalized kids; and not until page A4 do we find 3 U.S. soldiers killed in Baghdad attacks.
on McCain, from swimming freestyle:
"...Another might be McCain, despite his great interest and advocacy for honesty, is blowing smoke, not providing a "candid assessment" of our progress in Iraq. This is the same John McCain who famously declared it was perfectly safe to go for a stroll through a downtown Baghdad market place, posing for pictures along the way. Not long after the Senator's stroll, it was reported he was surrounded by a phalanx of U.S. troops and had a half dozen Blackhawk helicopters providing air cover overhead.
Pollyana or opportunist con artist? It's all the same to me."
Your wish is my command, KeeKee. She'll be at the next meeting at Moe's.
