It’s Islamo-Fascism Awareness week … again.
You know, the real problem with this conservative organizing stunt isn’t so much the racist undertones (overtones)—it’s that the subject of their ire shouldn’t be softy liberals, it should be George Bush.
Bush (and now McCain, it seems) is the one who needs a primer on who the bad guys are.
The Islamo-Fascists, the ones who attacked us on 9/11, were in Afghanistan—and now Western Pakistan. George Bush and the GOP are the ones who royally messed up America’s mission by invading Iraq, which had zero to do with Islamo-Fascism.

The only solution to stupid Republicans is to get them drunk, take them to a recruiting office, and sign them up.
Pointing out the flaws in Islam does not make one racist. Islam needs to be criticized for its support for jihad, misogyny, homophobia, and other indefensible ideas. Moreover, we need to confront those Muslims that use Islam to condone these ideas. At a minimum, they should receive the same criticism folks give the Christian televangelists like Pat Robertson.
The liberal knee-jerk reaction to label the critic a "racist" is unhelpful. Maybe this is simply a publicity stunt, but the immediate dismissal of the group without further investigation is intellectually dishonest.
To be fair, the College Republicans do a disservice by framing this as a battle of Left vs. Right. That is, liberals coddle terrorist, conservatives fight them. For this they can be fairly criticized. But that is a long way from being racist.
A blanket dismissal of these issues does a disservice to freedom of speech and the goal stopping unjust practices throughout the world.
