You wish; you give yourselves FAR too much credit.

@1,

And YOU don't get it. I didn't give us any credit. Boardman, apparently did.

Plus, I think it was a tough field that year.

Eli, still burned about not getting that full-time gig at the Times?

@6 -- You are clearly speaking out your ass. Eli did not post this. Josh did. Or are you a new type of dick-weed that thinks all Jewish people look alike?

Go away.

I know, I know, I should know better, but still, I just can't sort out why all of these people who hate the Stranger and its staff so much spend so much time reading and commenting here. Really, much of the best, most informative stuff I've read in the last two years has been written by Josh, Eli, Erica, Jonah and the others. Whatever it may say about my friends and me, a huge portion of the local, state and national topics we discuss often wind up involving material that was written on Slog or in the actual Stanger. I know this is pointless to observe, but I just had to toss it in here. Mainly because I'd be interested in seeing the comments actually be an interesting place to go, and not just a series of attacks on the writers.

All I know is my peeps at the WaPo laugh when they hear of the Seattle Times.

Everyone in the news biz knows that it's the PI and the Stranger that rule in Seattle. Well, except for David Postman ...

Of course it was a horse of a different color for Monsuueeooor Boardman... as the edrioterers always no the best corrections.

Yeah... and we saw the Monkeys overtake the Beatles in tour revinue last year for retro act of the big leauge comeback award show.... sheeesh!

I've got to hand it to The Stranger, cause I like them. For no other good reason than I told you so.

So here goes another attempt at interview for free writing workshop 101 for The Stranger as I try to win a spot for entertainment article of 'investigative denial of the year "towards ceremony".'

Could it have been Tom Lycas talking about kids and fame on the Radio today as I passed by a portable am/fm in the park?

I don't know and I don't care... even if it did sound like his voice.

Every once in a so often something comes along and changes an unmentionable.

An unmentionable is a word, or thought or experiance previously encountered that was abandoned or neglected, or just left to shine in the view of all to see until rediscovered again by something.

Thank the educational system for the people who pay attention to advertising!!!

I mean, in all seriousness Trillions and trillions of dollars have been spent on a war on drugs, and I do remember one slogan that appears at the moment to have retained some merit.... " a mind is a terrible thing to waste ".

It's unfortunate, and an understatement that in today's business climate the sheer force of greed can drive people to make less than stellar appointments to staffing solutions while they spend trillions on failed policy programs.

Far be it from me to waste time and effort on words without adding to the jargon of lexiconisms the world over.

Here is my addition for the day... possibly for longer if it takes off like a buzz word.

Squirminimiacs.

Pro-nounced Squirm-i-nim-ee-acks.

It's kind of like attention deficit disorder only with the 'Homerlike DOH!' thrown in for comic relief when the boss does his usual no-brainer escapder with the nymphomanic brassierre trader in the chum-waiter.

And all the employees who didn't want to leave and were forced out screamed "YEAH"!
or... "WTF"?

You can most likely give some credit for where the word 'squirminimiacs' originates from in developmental terms to my two daughters Emily and Melody who gave me Radioheads Amnesiacs for a Christmas present a few years ago and what other processes( except legitimate and illegitemate fine generating retro-active lawsuits) that bring together the make up of jumbled mumbles in a tumble of immediate crumble cake and fancy taste tests.

The unmentionable of course is inspiration.

Inspiration comes in many guises and forms.

Some inspiration comes around like a revolving door of political appointments rotating through every couple of 50 or 100 year cycles just to insure that the old blocks of stone and mortar don't become unteathered from the pedestals of wealth or ornithology.

These types of cyclic unmentionables float and hover around our subconcious levels of choice, almost as if the mere lack of discernable observation locks in the cusp of the previous event on the horizon line of a probable future.

This is of course non-sense.... unless one is VERY VERY wealthy and has powerful friends in law enforcement.....or law development....or law incarcerativeness... or....

well..... perhaps the inspired law freak would say nothing by saying "self determined inspiration is an affront to all natural and spontaneous 'inspirationus majoris'."

Case in point.

The Gavel.

There is nothing spontaneously inspiring about the prospect of a job as a court stenographer taking testimony in a traffic court for parking violations.

That pretty much means I can read your past, present and future as an art trader without admitting to your dealer that I have the thing going on with your uncles next door neighbors grandmas younger niece twice removed by marraige from her fathers mechanic.

What was the age on that space ship that just passed through the solar system catman?

On the other hand... the inspiration of a goodly night nurse with an educated precursor to thwarting crime by spying where one souldn't spy...
(?)......priceless!

That my good friends is the Karmic Wheel of Fire and Ice.

....and speaking of Fire and Ice... you can see it right there in Reykavik Iceland....

Hydrogen Cars and fuel cells... and they said we all came from an accidental tourist!!!? HA!

A students mind and heart..... now that's worth it's weight in pop songs!

And that's why I keep my eye on Chris Ballew and his mis-shapen crew of POTUS.....

cause one day he'll realize my offer extended in friendship was the one thing that would keep my TITANS from coming back from the Sea to "cracken open his noggin" with a spar.... the Rooster Cogburn kind of spar.... where I will kick his puny little 20 finger 4 bass string theory guitar pop shtick all over the planet.

Good day to you Chris Ballew... you silly american bald guy!

Danny Vengance reporting forJosh Feit and Jen Graves as "inspiration vivacious".

Hey Josh - PROVE that this happened. You're story is so full of holes, just like some of the slop you turn in (which apparently no one edits). What's the name of this "former Stranger news intern—now a star reporter at a mid-size daily somewhere else on the planet"? Star reporter my ass; I'd be more inclined to be blurb-o-mat churner at Star magazine.

How many big-boy job interviews have you actually been on in your life? This isn't the sort of thing a manager would say to someone who was interviewing; it's clear you've never sat in the big chair before.

C'mon, reveal the deets: this didn't happen. Prove it.

Josh,

Boardman here. Just curious: Did it ever occur to you to pick up a phone and actually ask me whether the conversation cited here actually occurred as you reported it?

Listen, as I've said before publicly, I have a lot of regard for The Stranger, and especially for Dan. I appreciate what you guys do; the community's better for having both you AND us. I'm a fan of Eli's and Jen's, in particular. A couple of years ago, when one of your reporters admitted to me that an anecdote you printed about me was actually a fabricated "composite," I let it go.

I know taking shots at the big daily is part of the formula; every alt weekly in America does it. But it's becoming, well ... unbecoming.

@17,

That's a good point Boardman, re: calling.

I'm putting out tomorrow's paper right now, but I'll give you a call.

This didn't strike me as particularly serious or important Slog post, so I didn't feel compelled to call, but sure, will do.

boardman should've been pissy: that piece by sandeep was a hatchet job pure and simple (and yeah i like sandeep), right up there with the one the merc tried to pull on willamette week in 2005 when it won a pulitzer. now why don't you go do something groovy josh?

Josh,

"That's a good point Boardman, re: calling."

"This didn't strike me as particularly serious or important."

WTF??

You lack professionalism. And character. You owe Boardman a public apology.

oh yes he does at #21. but then as i know the story the stranger folks never called any of the reporters involved in the sea times piece back when either. so this is just typical.

Man,

If The Times went after the Stranger on such a regular basis with the same vitriol, then you guys would likely fold like a blanket.

You are pussies, taking swings from behind a guys head then get pissed when they don't return your calls.

Someone call the waaaaabulance.

Coward. You're conveniently too "busy putting out tomorrow's paper" to back up your smack, Josh. But not too busy to check back on your own posts three minutes after someone calls bullshit on you. Boy.

@24,

Lady C.,

I called Boardman yesterday afternoon. I left a message on his machine. He called back and left a message on my machine saying we probably didn't really need to talk. I called him back, and left a message with his secretary saying I'd love to hear what he had to say about the anecdote I posted.
