Salon is still online? Why?

The "brought it on himself" comment is a bit off. As I understood, Paglia was criticizing the confluence of factors that led to the killing: failure by the school to read the situation before it came to a head, a failure to confront the kid as he became "different" from his peers (and heading off the confrontation), and compulsory attendance requirements that forced the kid to be there.

Lets try to avoid boiling everything down to a soundbyte, mmkay?

#3: All of her advice was that he needed to stop acting gay or girlish.

He needed protection against his own fantasies -- or rather his own creative imagination, which should have been channeled into art rather than into acting out in real life.

How about protection from hate-murderers?

You need to listen to Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song when discussing Camille Paglia.

No, I won't explain the reference.

Paglia's hatred of Hilary is as pathological as ECB's sycophancy for her. Really, a lot of Paglia's writing is broken-record type stuff with some nuggets of truth buried within. Her reply to the LTC in Iraq was particularly concise. Salon must only continue to publish Paglia simply for the pageviews and attendant outraged letters. Meanwhile, Glenn Greenwald is their true journalistic gem.

So is Paglia going to replace Dowd as your current e-stalking recipient?

OK, this is totally off-topic, but I received this mutual fund report in the mail and I thought, "Finally! A lesbian couple on the cover of an otherwise dull investment publication." Then I noticed it was a married man and woman. So, since when do good ol' boys in Mississippi start looking like us dykes??

CP just wants to be RP...

What the hell happened to Paglia? Was she always like this and I just didn't notice, or is this a new crazy maybe caused by people paying her less attention than they used to?

Posted by Kiru Banzai | April 9, 2008 5:58 PM

I forget, when did she go nuts - was it in 2002 or 2001?

I've never understood the "Hilary hates men" idea. I'd chalk it up to someone who hates Hilary, but has little creativity to employ.

She's still married to Bill Clinton ferrchissake, so she's obviously got a soft spot for male misdeeds, or at least enough tolerance to stay for reasons that benefit her. Either way, it's a long way from hatred.

Camille Paglia is the Ur-Troll. She's been pulling this shit since the 80s and 90s, when she used to stalk gay & lesbian studies conferences and trying to provoke teh gays. I was there. She's a fucking loon. She hasn't changed one bit.

Zaftig then, zaftig now. She craves your attention and will say anything to get it.

Is Michelle Obama fierce though?

I don't know if Camille Paglia has always been insane, but she certainly is these days.

Posted by Gabriel | April 10, 2008 10:03 AM

Paglia cuts through liberal PC crap and proves herself to be the real liberal.

Posted by Jeff | April 10, 2008 10:31 AM

Paglia?Isn't she the nutter who wrote a book about rape being natural or some horseshit?

Posted by resident_alien | April 10, 2008 12:13 PM

Resident Alien - What on earth are you talking about? I guess you haven't read a word of what she has said but listen to other biased opinions about Camille. C'mon, it's not hard. Go to the library and get her books and have a read for yourself.
If you're not prepared to do that then go and get a job at FOX. 'Accuracy' is a foreign word over there I believe.
