Postmark gellato has been there for years, it's just under new management.

How do you expect good levels what with your onions up in his proboscis?

@1,

Thanks. Fixed that. The guy behind the counter said they'd only been open a few months, but I guess he meant new management.
I'd never actually seen the place before. Good sandwiches.

@3,
I should say: I ate all the onions. Just a wrapper left.

Readers, please, allow me: Josh, aren't you the guy who objects -- strongly -- to people bringing their dogs into bars? Haven't you scooped up and thrown away dogs that other people brought into bars? I think you have. I've seen you do it.

It has been my experience tat sound guys are some of the biggest a-holes in the club. They think they own the place because they can push a few buttons and turn a few knobs. Like no one else could figure out how to do it if they had 10 minutes with the board.

Maybe it is just the few I have known.

Savage,

Smelly onion hot dogs maybe.

I liked the way the jerky sound guy passively aggresively reprimands you. He was too chicken shit to actually confront you when you were eating the sandwiches; he waits until you're done to have his little snit fit.

But, in his defense, onions ARE a controversial food. Many people love them, and many people passionately loathe them...and onion stink can be overwhelming, like burnt microwave popcorn, which causes me to have a snit fit.

@9,

Fremont is in Seattle.

Lovely bus ride—the 49 from Capitol Hill to the 74 and right back again, with ECB continuing on to Columbia City.

I don't get how Fremont has anything to do with this. I agree with #6 - some sound guys are just douches. I guess at least in Fremont it's just the sound guy, as opposed to Capitol Hill, where everyone's a douche.

Josh, If you think about coming back to Fremont don't. We don't like your kind here. Total fucking douche bags, such as yourself and Erica, should stick to the Hill where you blend in nicely.

Yeah, Fremont would rather have all the Frat-boys from the U, and the bridge-and-tunnel crowd from Kirkland, Bellevue, and Issaquah/Sammamish patronizing their establishments instead.

'cause presumably they drink a lot more than you and ECB, Josh. And it's the liquor income that's what keeps those places in business.

uh, I don't recall Josh raggin' on Fremont, but on a sound guy who happened to be IN Fremont, so I'm not sure where all the hate is coming from...

Judging by some of the nasty, rude comments on here in defense of Fremont, (when it wasn't even attacked), I'd have to say that the rapidly and irritatingly gentrifying Fremont is FULL of douches...

We ran into some frat boys at the Sunset Friday who apparently thought a chair was yours for the evening if you'd put your ass in at any time, even if you'd later gotten up to shout "woohoo" for a horrible Hootie and the Blowfish inspired 'act' and some people were falling asleep waiting for Suicide Jack.

Technically, it was more like a high school, but the band was so frat boy that I'll stick with that.

And you "split a drink"? Seriously?

Unless you're both a combined 100 lbs and someone has to drive home, this should not be an option... Capitol Hill taught you better than that!

Maybe he has synesthesia, and the smell of onions causes him to turn the guitars up too loud. You should have whipped out a glove and said "dude, smell this -- corinthian leather; goes great with snare drum".

That was nice of him to bus your table. I would have offered him a dollar tip and tell him there's another buck in it if he takes the glasses as well.

Very important clarification: We each had one drink, THEN we split a drink. Had to make it to the (bizarrely re-routed) 74 on time!

Thanks for the tip about the indie sandwich shop. Been missing SUBS, so am always looking for one. It was nice of the sound guy to bus your table. And, dude, can't the sound guy have food allergies? A friend complained of the smell of grilled onions the other day at an establishment and I thought, Are you insane? On reflection though, it is a strong smell and, you know, to be a good sound guy, you have to be a perfectionist--that is, a bit finicky.

Thank you for coming by and spending money in our neighborhood! The High Dive is a good business, as well as TosT and the Gelato place. I haven't tried the sandwiches and it sounds like they are good and potent.

I don't think the sound engineer's fit was worth posting about, really, but it does sound like it sort of ruined your night so that's lame.

I think someone needs to tell Eric the owner of the High Dive that his sound engineer just scared away potential customers, because people might not go there if they read Josh's post and think it's an unfriendly place, which is certainly not.

I have to side with the sound guy here.

How would you like it if somebody came into your office and sat down a few a feet away from you, eating a stinky sandwich? And then just left the wrappers there? I'm sorry, but onions are disgusting.

@46: It's actually hard to get to Fremont by bus from any angle and if everything you need is in your neighborhood (grocery stores, movies, friends, parks, work, etc.) are in your neighborhood, why leave?

Fremont, however, has no movie theater, drug store, bank, or place to buy Nyquil, Band-Aids or any other regular medicine for starters. Driving to Ballard for Neosporin is just stupid, but that's our little village for ya. I still like it.

@29,

A new shop has opened in the same location mostly using the same old SUBS recipes. They use regular ham instead of the boutique stuff SUBS used, but they fill their shoes pretty well otherwise.

Back on topic, if you're gonna be a weenie (as the sound guy definitely was), don't lie to justify it - there are no health department rules against bringing in outside food into clubs (at least that I'm aware of).

#38, meat DOES kick ass, and I DO eat it, constantly. There are glorious bits of Thai-flavored chicken in my teeth RIGHT NOW. What you say about steak IS true. It also IS bad for the environment, and I do NOT care! I DO ride the 14 instead of walking a mile to work, bitches!

@36,

The place of work is a bar. They serve food. They serve beer. The place smells like that already. I don't think your "how would I like it if..." really works so well.

Also, the guy didn't clean up after us. We hadn't left yet. We were still hanging out, and certainly would have thrown out the wrappers ourselves.

@45,

Of course, I've been to Fremont b4. (Just never noticed the Sandwich shop.) It's a great bike ride over from Capitol Hill. The BF Day courts are great, but I'm sad the Sonic Boom is closed.

The place I've never been before (and want to check out...mostly for the great name) is the Buckaroo up on 42nd.

They actually deliver Thai, Curry, and Bagels from three places next to you - you could have popped in, asked them to deliver, and then arranged to eat it on the sidewalk when it arrived.

@39 - you can rent videos, Pioneer Bank is in Fremont (ATMs for BofA at Adobe, Red Door, 7-11 (free for credit unions), the bodega at the end of my block, cash back at PCC and many places), deli at PCC (fast check out next to bakery), regular medicine at PCC (or you can get Western style medicine in Freelard).
