Joe wants to be on a winning team. It doesn't matter which loser candidate the Dems send, we will trounce you. Hillary is doing a great job of ripping Obama a new one. Get ready for another 16 years of GOP rule!

They probably don't, because right now that one douchebag is the only thing keeping Harry Reid majority leader. Thankfully, they should be able to to kick his ass to the curb after November without concern.

I can't look back at 2000 without throwing up a little in my mouth. It as amazing to think this fuckwad was on a ticket with AL GORE!

It's adorable. Take the asshole from the R party that the Rs hate, add the asshole from the D party that the Ds hate, throw in the policy and party mechanics from the asshole everyone hates, and bake.

I can't wait until Nixon's ghost and Bob Dole endorse McCain.

tsm @2, amen to that. Get 2 - 3 more real Dems in the Senate, then strip Lieberman of his seniority and chairmanships -- essentially forcing him to switch.

I'm sure he will feel more comfortable with the sabre rattlers over there in the party of endless war and endless deficits.

I think as long as Obama can look tough on national defense, Lieberman's crazy right-wing arguments will not hold any water.

Do any of you Nader Haters realize yet why some of us liberals chose NOT to vote for Gore/Liberman?

It looks like Lieberman might get a little tongue!

Lieberman was a traitor when after seeking the democratic nomination he then ran against the guy who won it fair and square. Then Reid et al. showed lack fo spine and rewarded him. Now he has even more power. What's next, selling Democratic Party slots to other Senators who then still vote with the GOP on the key issues?

Seriously, when these two get really drunk and start playing Gay Chicken with each other, there's simply no telling what might happen next.

There you see him
Sitting there across the aisle
He don’t got a lot of style
But there’s something about him
And you don’t know why
But you’re dying to try
You wanna kiss the guy...

K @8...

I just wish we were waiting for Lieberman to leave the VP office rather than Cheney.

That said, I never liked Lieberman and always wondered WHY he was on the ticket. Does anyone remember the hows and why?

Of course, criticizing Israel for anything is still a death knell for any politician.

Lieberman is the kin of old-school pol who lives for loyalty. He didn't get any, and it's destroyed him. It's sad watching him being paraded around like a performing monkey now.

Biggest douchebag EVER? Really? Bigger than Dick Cheney? Don Rumsfeld? John Yoo? A bigger douchebag than Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter? Hardly.

@8, Gore's selection of Lieberman was the final straw in my decision to vote for Nader in 2000. I still think it speaks volumes about Gore's lack of judgment, no matter how he's improved his stance since the stolen election.

@13, my understanding of why Gore chose Lieberman is that he wanted to distance himself from the Lewinsky scandal, and Lieberman was one of the anti-Clinton Democrats during the impeachment proceedings. Also, it was a transparent attempt to attract the votes of conservative Jewish retirees in Florida, and would probably have worked if the butterfly ballot wasn't so damn confusing.

Also, Al has his own years-long streak of social conservatism that everyone seems to have forgotten about. He was pretty much the original DLC Democrat. Don't get me wrong--with hindsight I'd take Gore at his worst for eight years over any single day of the Bush presidency. But except on the environment he would have been another step toward the center-right and another nail in the coffin of liberal and moderate politics in this country.

We are very lucky that Gore decided not to run and that we have Obama to vote for instead. He brings out the best in people, including Gore, and we just need to reject the media gotcha campaign long enough to win in November, with a large enough Senate majority that Lieberman can finally be stripped of his place in the party and sent out to pasture.

Thank you, Cascadian @15. It all comes back to me, now...

I agree with your conclusion as well. I am SO looking forward to voting for Obama. (Not that it will make a bean's worth of difference in VA.)

I really hope he gives the keynote address. And I hope it does for his career in the Senate what it did for Zell Miller's.

That photo made me feel vaguely ill. It looks like the two ugliest men in the world are about to suck face. I just did not need to see that right now.

Obama doesn't bring out the best in everybody. Or if he does, then let's hope nobody ever brings out the worst in Hillary.
