NYT to Superdelegates: End This Thing

posted by on April 23 at 9:00 AM

Today’s NYT:

On the eve of this crucial primary, Mrs. Clinton became the first Democratic candidate to wave the bloody shirt of 9/11. A Clinton television ad—torn right from Karl Rove’s playbook—evoked the 1929 stock market crash, Pearl Harbor, the Cuban missile crisis, the cold war and the 9/11 attacks, complete with video of Osama bin Laden. “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,” the narrator intoned….

After seven years of George W. Bush’s failed with-us-or-against-us presidency, all American voters deserve to hear a nuanced debate—right now and through the general campaign—about how each candidate will combat terrorism, protect civil liberties, address the housing crisis and end the war in Iraq.

It is getting to be time for the superdelegates to do what the Democrats had in mind when they created superdelegates: settle a bloody race that cannot be won at the ballot box. Mrs. Clinton once had a big lead among the party elders, but has been steadily losing it, in large part because of her negative campaign. If she is ever to have a hope of persuading these most loyal of Democrats to come back to her side, let alone win over the larger body of voters, she has to call off the dogs.

The NYT, of course, endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. Sounds like they’re starting to regret that endorsement.

Two things:
1) Dan loves anus so much! He loves his own, he loves other mens in bathrooms, he loves Terry's. He has loved thousands of anus's over the course of his lifetime of buggering. Anything that offends the "anui" of the world is like watching the holocaust happen in front of him. To Dan, the persecution of anus's is like watching his best friend get gassed by nazis at aushwitz.
2) I love it when arrogant and ignorant city folk encounter something from the more rural part of this country. Not that any of you have actually shot a deer. No. Yet you go the extra step and conclude that someone who does is a serial killer. BRILLIANT!!! You guys sure do know a lot about life! I mean, between preening yourselves for a trip down to the glory hole, laughing at homeless people and finding new and exciting ways to make your hair look like shit, how do you have the time to chortle at the backwards ways of the common folk?
I take solace in the fact that city will turn into virtual slaughterhouses and you assholes will become cannibals when the impending collapse happens. That is, until you die from some ungodly illness picked up because you have no idea why it's important to core out your prey's asshole.

HA HA HA!!! Screw it all, I think I want the Democrats to kill themselves and let McCain win. If we are going to become a fascist right wing nation let's go 100% all the way!!!

But just to let you know, I will move to Canada and watch from the sidelines: I love freedom too much to actual LIVE in the US as this happens.

Hey, Dan - is the Strangler planning on sending anyone to Denver in August? (If you haven't applied for credentials, the deadline has already passed.) If you are, let me know; I'll buy him or her a drink or two.

Anyone notice that 54.7 minus 45.3 does not equal 10? Oh, yeah, let's round Hillary's number up to 55, Obama's down to 45, then subtract and call it a double-digit win.

Shouldn't the headlines everywhere be "Clinton Fails to Eke out 10% Win."

Someone should send the MSM to remedial math classes.

Mrs. Clinton is no more of a negative campaign than any other candidate. It is ludicrous to think that voters are just going to in blind faith

(oops)

Mrs. Clinton is no more running a negative campaign than any other candidate who’s made it to the White House. It is ludicrous to think that voters are just going to 'in blind faith' trust Obama in his hyperbolic rise in national politics to the presidency who hasn’t completed even one term in the United States Senate.

@6, just like it's ludicrous to think that blacks are going to rush to her side in Nov. Oops is right. Dems are going to lose.

Brilliant. That really is the most concise and important statement to be asserted since the race started growing (seemingly) too long.

Do what the system is designed to do.

do what the Democrats had in mind when they created superdelegates: settle a bloody race that cannot be won at the ballot box.

I love how people justify Hillary's nasty campaign tactics with "but everyone else has done it!"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we trying to change the way America does politics...?

@9: the clintons aren't. they figure they can win at the game using the current playbook.

Wow, 6 delegates. At this rate she'll win the nomination in 2025.

@6: abraham lincoln had 1 term in the house of representatives. dick cheney had the same. so your point is moot.

how about we put a good (ish) person in the office before DC drags them fully into the muck?

@6,

When they voted for Chimpy McChimperson? No, it's not ludicrous.

I started out a Hillary supporter. Gradually shifted to Obama, but could support H if she won.

Right now, I fucking hate her.

Well, not really hate. I'll hold my nose and vote for her in November if I have to. But between her and Bill - I'm way too reminded of all I really disliked about the Clinton years.

(Before I realized how BAD a president could be. Thank you, Dubbya...)
