I took a picture just like this the other day. I was on the purple line El train from Evanston to Chicago -- the train had only two cars and I was the only person in either of them. It was pretty damned cool.

the 43 was empty because it was so late people just got on the 48 cause 5 passed before the 43 showed up.

@6 - You should get out more often. You can probably experience that at least 10-12 times a day on there if you work it right. I think I've seen - TOTAL, ever - about 6 people at the Linden stop.

@14. It was between South and Howard. I've only ever gone as far north as Noyes on the Purple line, and am used to the Red or Brown during rush hour when the cars are decidely not empty. I've been on empty buses before, but something about the empty train was kinda neat...

Ok, now take this picture and imagine the reverse, with passengers hanging out of the windows. And you have the #358 express on Aurora. When ever I take this bus I always expect to end up in a 3rd World country "bus plunge" accident.

While I am usually excited just to not have someone sitting next to me on the bus, I know an empty bus to be one of the greatest simple pleasures in life. I've had it happen a few times before (normally I'm taking the 44, 16, or 358, which are all packed), usually catching a bus like the 43 or the 70 originating in the u-district.
