Donations? That's way too liberal for me.

If Goldy isn't locked in some frat basement, stripped to his underwear and covered in peanut butter, it's not Pledge Week.

What is the deal with all these jabs at KUOW? The pledge drive is annoying, of course, but this thing about their reserves is ludicrous.

Does ANY charity or non-profit go around telling everyone how much money they have in the bank while they're fundraising? Just because they don't trumpet it doesn't mean they're hiding it. Are they supposed to wait until they have no money and can't make payroll and then start asking for donations? Are you in any way familiar with the running of a business?

True, KUOW could probably be more forthright about their finances, linking explicitly to their budgets or whatever on the site, but I don't see how having money in the bank makes a non-profit any less worthy of support. No one is profiting from this, they're just being responsible. They have expenses, they need regular income.

I mean, sure, rag on them, decrease their donations, as if public broadcasting didn't have enough problems. Way to fight the good fight.
