Slog - Comments on Introducing The Man Behind John McCain's 2008 Fight For Washington

Shortly after becoming a mathematical lock for the GOP nomination, John McCain began plotting how a fairly unorthodox Republican candidate would win the presidency. His final plan rolled out the concept of a decentralized campaign structure: each region of the country having a different 'regional campaign manager' who would be better able to shape the McCain message for the different electoral circumstances his candidacy would face. Well, the plan is finalized. Marc Ambinder introduces us to McCain's new hire, John Peschong: regional manager for Washington State (and the entirety of the West Coast, including Alaska and Hawaii): John McCain's campaign...

If Washington ends up being anything close to an electoral "battleground" then we're all already screwed and it won't be very "important".

plouffe said in his article today that BHO thinks these are the big battleground states that BHO has won a primary in and that are his route to victory in the fall:

CO WA WI IA VA NC ( will win it).

None of these except NC is in the top ten in electoral colege votes. 4 of 6 of these are in fact at the average level of EV or lower. (The average ECV votes of all states plus dc is about 11; ECV's of the states plouffe says are big battlegrounds are 9 10 11 7 13 and 15).
So he's wrong about 4 of these 6....they're not big. They're average, or small.

Why so nitpicky you say? You know, as long as we're keeping track of the difference between 9.3 and 10.0 and how 9.3 is not ten. And as long as we're keeping track of who engages in the New Math for campaign purposes, or says what a pol has to go out and say (credit: Rev. J. Wright).

FYI the ECV of the top ten states are 35 34 31 27 21 21 20 17 15 and 15 (of which BHO won IL with 21 and will win NC with 15 -- only). So 9 10 11 7 13 and 15 aren't exactly a good subset of those big battleground states.

And we don't call someone who works for Flip-Flop More Tax Cuts for the Ultra-Rich McCain a "man", we call servants of Satan "devils".

Use the correct term for those who hate God and follow the Prince of Lies.

unPC, you stupid troll, you know as well as I do that just because democrat A beats democrat B in a contest decided by democrat-registered voters, you can not make any assumptions whatsoever about democrat A beating republican B in a contest decided by all registered voters. CA and NY will go democrat no matter what, TX and others will not. The whole "A won this state so B won't against C" is stupid, tired, and obvious bullshit.

In other news, unPC won the state primary of the PoorReasoning party, and will certainly win the entire state in the general election.
