Gossip: A few details about Sub Pop's upcoming 20th birthday party. Confirmed: Radiohead, August 20th, Whiteriver Amphitheater, with the Liars. Bookish: Liz Phair writes a novel. Delicious: Vegan poutine and hardcore in Georgetown. For Sale: James Brown's socks, underwear, and just about everything else left in his house. Fact: Whitney Houston did not sing "Let's Hear it For the Boy." Throwed: Larry Mizell reviews Bun B at Neumo's. Sticky: Brian Cook puts crazy glue on his earplugs. Poutine: It looks so gross, but tastes so great....

Marcel, that's where they came last time - on the Hail to the Thief tour. I didn't go because I think that venue is an insult to Life itself.

But I have this awesome plan to beat the traffic: park in Enumscratch & ride a bike to the Amphitheatre, then bike to the car & go north through Black Diamond.

I bet they won't allow bikes on the premises or they charge full parking rates...

@6 Never eat there, period. If you must eat fast food in Squamish, go to the Dairy Queen. If you have some time and money, eat at that hotel restaurant at the edge of the busy part of town. Nice burgers. I've also heard good things about the golf club restaurant a little bit south on the Sea To Sky in that new development.

@9: Count me as another completely offended Canadian. Vegan poutine is a lie.

Also: poutine is not universally good in Canada, especially western Canada. There are only 2 places in Vancouver that I know of that can make a reliably decent poutine.

Good god, how hard can it be? Poutine is not supposed to be a gourmet dish -- it's fries and gravy with cheese curds, fer chrissake! Any decent diner should be able to whip that up, or am I missing something?
