Thanks for the tip... This reminds me of the pre-packaged rice krispy treats that taste overwhelmingly like corn sweetener. Making your own float is as important as mixing your own cocktail!

Sigh. I remember in the 80s driving up to my family's cottage and stopping at the A&W in some tiny Indiana town to get some grub. And we would get root beer floats. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for the tip Megan! I will definitely try out the Giant Chewy Nerds - I do love the Nerds on a Rope.

I hate that artificial vanilla flavour, it tastes like over-fermented liquor.

Agreed, my girlfriend bought some of this the other day and it was the grossest shit I've ever had.

Giant Chewy Nerds ... are those like the giant Sweet Tarts they used to have, but with a candy shell?

Best place to get an A&W root bear float is in Nelson BC after driving to it for half an hour. I like the orange floats better, but ...

You can get a REAL A&W Root Beer float from the A&W/KFC near the Wal Mart in Renton.

Thanks for taking one for the team. I would have totally got suckered into this, had I seen it w/o your review.
Though, in truth, if I came across this on a road trip - I'd have to get it.

Thank you. Because otherwise my boyfriend would've tried it.

There might be one person in the world who would like it, and that would be my boyfriend. I can't even be in the same room with him when he has a rootbeer float because he stirs it until the ice cream melts and only then does he drink it. That's just wrong. Truly unAmerican. Anyway, he's in Iraq right now and won't have a chance to try it for awhile, but I'm pretty sure this will be right up his alley. Maybe I'll mail him a bottle...

I'm not even a little bit surprised.

When I was a little kid in the 1960s & 1970s, back in the midwest, we used to go out maybe once every month or two to an A&W drive-in (yes, I'm that old). My very favorite thing in the world was a real A&W root beer float.

This abomination should be outlawed.

Artificial vanilla flavouring is a byproduct of the industrial papermaking process.
