Life HPV Through the Back Door

onThe MSNBC headline says it all, in language even fourth-graders will understand: “‘Eww’ factor aside, anal HPV infection is a risk”. Specifically:
Anal infections of human papillomavirus, known as HPV, appear to be as common as cervical infections, according to an article published in the April issue of the Journal of Infectious Diseases. Half of the women in the multi-year study acquired new anal HPV infections during the trial period. Counting women infected at the start of the study, roughly 70 percent of women tested positive for anal HPV during clinic visits.
Full story here. (And yes, anal sex figures sometimes into the equation, but not always…)

Two in the pink, and one in the stink.
Creep in the Cellar has a point - the researchers failed to determine the prevalence of shocker enthusiasts among the infected.
When are they approving that HPV vaccine for guys? I mean, too late for most fags my age, but it would be nice if the young queers could avoid anal cancer.
I blame splashback.
As if I don't have enough things to worry about.
some pls. explain is this saying 70% of all women have this or does this apply to some subgroup?
yuk -- only thing I've ever heard that even makes it even cross my mind for one second to "turn gay"
This is why boys in middle school should get the HPV vaccine as well as girls.
@6... most adult women will eventually be infected with some strain of HPV, so, while I haven't checked that 70% number, that seems right to me. I have it, but not the kind that causes cervical cancer. It just makes my pap smears abnormal every once in awhile...
Reading this thread, I saw a post about a young hooker with a colostomy bag and a giant case of anal HPV on her stoma. Eww. Seriously.
