She is so annoying.

Interesting.

Sen Obama had a better pic of him at the pump yesterday.

Mind you, he paid cash - Hils had to charge it on her overdrawn credit card.

I wonder why publicity stunts like this aren't compared to their obvious counter parts in the "reject and denounce" category.

She could give a shit about Bill Ayers, just like she could give a shit about gas prices -- they're all just meaningless political points.

Hillary thinks we're all idiots.

Is it sexist to call Hillary the wedge between labor and environmentalists? Because you know, Freud said that sometimes a wedge is just a wedge.

Why didn't Clinton use public transit? ERICA??!!??

And naturally Obama paid with cash: it is called being fiscally responsible and not charging it to our children!!!

Meh - the whole gas-tax-holiday is indeed really bad policy, but I can't get too worked up about a photo op that says "Hillary knows gas is expensive". It's stupid, sure, but at least it's about some sort of policy this time. And of course she rolls in a huge gas-guzzling entourage; so does any other politician of her stature.

I think by now it's a bit of a fallacy to mock the ridiculousness of campaign environmentalism. We're the ones who feed these politicians the millions of dollars they require to drive, fly, and ride the rails of the US with a giant entourage of support staff, and this is required of anyone with any hope of becoming president.

We've made the process such that a gas-pumping move like Hillary's and Obama's will always look ridiculous with the camera panned back. Closer in it's at least acknowledging a problem, if not very well.

Anyone remember George H.W. Bush, 41st President, on his re-election campaign trail, standing at the grocery store checkout using the newfangled scanner, looking out of touch (despite actually knowing quite well how it worked)?

I'm just sayin...

It gets better. Check out her coffee fiasco. That's what you get when you go for a cappucino instead of a cuppa joe.

@9 - GWB still doesn't know how much it takes to fill his tank - he's that out of it, and that incompetent.

The guy has no idea how expensive life is for the 99.9 percent of America whose pay has gone down under his MisAdministration ... and he, like his comrade Sen McCain, really doesn't care, cause all his CEO and other Party Elite buds are doing better than ever.

give me a fucking break, when was the last time Obama drove a car? and what kind of car does he drive? and aren't journalist following him around in their gasoline guzzling vehicles? and what about obama's staged photo-op yesterday? it's so irrelevant to even discuss this, but it seems like substance is something lacking in most of the slog's posts. this one in particular by some dumbass "intern" who thinks he's really "nailed" hillary this time.
puh-lease!

I'm not surprised HRC isn't familiar with gas purchasing, neither am I. I don't drive and know that gas is expensive but do not know the actual price at the pump, so I just checked on gas prices via the internet and gas is about 50 cents cheaper in the southeast than here and in California. Who knew? Big deal.

Barack Obama gave me a ride home from the bar last night, whatever. It's a Chrysler 300, with rims.

Hillary said I could get DUI for all she cares.

@12,

Dear Jackass,

I wasn't under the impression that I 'nailed' anybody. The point of the post (which you missed, which is utterly unsurprising) is the absurdity of presidential candidates attempting to appeal to solidarity with the common voter, when their position on the national stage has so thoroughly removed them from the voter they're trying to pander to.

I await your retort, and congratulations on having the reading skills of a fucking can of paint.

ryan -- this is a great post. don't pay attention to comments by ignorant people who don't understand the issues. i live in kansas and i read your blog slog.

you are not irrelevant. i hope you continue to post stories like this.

hillary clinton completely lacks integrity, as does the jerk up above who left the comment about you trying to "nail" her. people need to know this stuff. she is going to ruin us all. she doesn't care about us.
