Happy Birthday, Bette Davis!

posted by on April 1 at 10:58 AM

Bette Davis would have turned 100 on Saturday, and there’s a whole rash of DVD releases and feature articles to prove it. For the latest round of DVDs, see Dennis Lim in the LA Times; for a wider overview, see Terrence Rafferty in the New York Times. Want more? GreenCine Daily has lots and lots of links.

Once again Joan trumps Bette by reaching 100 years - 13 days earlier. Had they lived, how much more profit the vodka and cigarette companies would have earned.

This week would be a good opportunity for any alleged homosexual person who has never seen "All About Eve" to get his gay card validated. Gay revalidation for "Who's Afraid of Baby Jane?" is also available. Finally learn the true reference of "But char, Blanche, char..." and understand that it's OK to make sport of physically challenged individuals.

And finally, God bless Charles Pierce.
