The really sweet part is the glittery 'Happy 119th Birthday' garland across the table. Youth auxiliary must have made it. Ugh.

This quote is priceless. “'I’ll speak before any group that invites me,' Zirkle said Monday. 'I’ve spoken on an African-American radio station in Atlanta.'”

Okay kids, get your invites in now: Planned Parenthood Fundraiser, Passover Seder, NAMBLA All-Ages Meet n' Greet...sky's the limit!

Pic's not working for me, either.

Nazis are just another special-interest group, like African-Americans, right? Just because we fought a war against them, I mean, come on, people, they're just a friendly little club.

Maybe he can campaign with McCain. You know, to tighten up that critical arian vote. That'd be awesome.

The pic is on the NW Indiana Times: http://www.nwitimes.com/articles/2008/04/23/news/top_news/docf6a35b9d5a72e89d8625743300832e52.txt

Surprisingly enough, the "commander" of this nazi group stated he would rather vote for Clinton first, then McCain - their site is overthrow(dot)com. I tried to put the link in but got rejected by the slog spam filter.

"just wait til cristalnacht!"

This is hilarious. Rare moments like these are why I still bother reading Slog comments.

About 15 years ago my (Liberal Party of Canada) member of parliament accepted an invitation from the Chinese Embassy to celebrate the anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet. I'm not sure that anyone even took him to task for it. I hoped that it was just for the free drinks.

Dane, could you please correct the text in your post to reflect the fact that this birthday party for Hitler was in CHICAGO, as the article clearly states? The candidate is running for office in Indiana, but that doesn't mean this party was held there.

Zirkle was careful to make sure there were no pictures taken of him at the African-American radio station.

After all, if that got out, it could ruin his political career.....
