The Westside Ballers have a fantastic Montessori program, so the choice should have been obvious.

This is why Tony and Maria die at the end of West Side Story.

@2: Pfeh. Everybody knows that the Ballers Montessori school is little more than a day-care. The Crips program also has special after-school classes--like firearms cleaning and assembly--that the Ballers haven't been able to add due to budget problems.

The gang scene here really is totally out of control. But the funny thing is that they only seem to kill each other. So nobody really pays all that much attention to it, other than to have a good laugh over the occasional news story like this.

Makes me proud of my home town.

What idiots. The kid is 4. They might as well just settle for the Westside Ballers because if you don't have your kid on the waiting list for the Crips before they are even born it's next to impossible to get them in.

If this had been Medina you can bet exactly the same thing would have occured, the rampant destruction of property that is, only the argument would have been about whether the kid should join Skull-and-Crossbones or The Whiffenpoofs.

@1 Although the nature of the father's involvement is quite disturbing, you do have a point. Most other fathers in his situation would be long gone.

Cut Dan some slack, good Catholic boys (and girls) were never really encouraged to study or even read the Old Testament for themselves. If we wanted outrageous fantasy stories we were given "The Lives of the Saints" and we left the Bible stories to the priests.

In fact, Old Testament stories always seemed kind of jewy or backwoodsy moonshine preacherish when I was growing up Catholic.

Another reason why couples should wait until marriage-- a pre-nup could have settled this matter easily.

This argument could easily be translated into "Which neighborhood should the baby grow up in?", or "Frijoles or fried chicken?"

The answer would also determine which gang the kid ends up in.

@9 One doesn't plan to join Skull and Bones or Whiffenpoof, one can only hope to be tapped, even so, membership is not mutually exclusive, one could be a member of both.
