Thanks for more bullshit, Dan! Glad you're doing you part to contribute to the noise machine!

Gas tax holiday?

Posted by elenchos | April 29, 2008 12:57 PM

#2 No such luck. The Stranger's a tabloid like the rest of the national press apparently.

Posted by Jay | April 29, 2008 1:00 PM

I did it! Sweet Barry really loves me! Not that wench Michelle! HA!! He is MINE BITCH MINE!!!!

Posted by Andrew | April 29, 2008 1:02 PM

@2 i just assumed they covered that already. they haven't? that's a huge, and, uh, real issue...

Posted by infrequent | April 29, 2008 1:02 PM

Your just coming to this conclusion?

Man, you mean... if I hadn't have posted this photo, no one would have noticed what was on the cover of all the National Enquirers in all the checkout lines in all the grocery stores in all the states in all of America?

Man, Slog is powerful.

Posted by Dan Savage | April 29, 2008 1:06 PM

Hey, I've got a few thousand pics of the married Sen McCain kissing underage women back when he was fooling around on his first wife, while she was at home with the kids ...

Any chance you'll post those, Dan? Or did Hils tell you not to do that?

Posted by Will in Seattle | April 29, 2008 1:08 PM

#8. Now powerful, just stupid.

Posted by Jay | April 29, 2008 1:08 PM

#8. No, just stupid and irrelevant, but with a shiny pretext of local importance.

Posted by Jay | April 29, 2008 1:10 PM

"Love notes." The National Enquirer really needs to hire some new people.

Posted by Mr. Poe | April 29, 2008 1:10 PM

I dig that weird clipped double post.

Posted by Jay | April 29, 2008 1:11 PM

Where I buy groceries the only things sold in the checkout line are Real Simple, Yoga Journal and Seattle Metropolitan.

Posted by elenchos | April 29, 2008 1:12 PM

I love how the Enquirer didn't skip a beat after Clinton left office and simply used the same play-book on Bush implying a failed marriage and infidelity consistently for the last 8 years. and it looks like they are passing on the torch.

i am just waiting to see who the Aliens from WWN endorse.

Posted by vooodooo84 | April 29, 2008 1:18 PM

I can't believe the National Enquirer beat everybody to the punch on this one... man, FOX News must be pissed.

Posted by falcon1 | April 29, 2008 1:19 PM

next on slog: batboy vs lobsterboy

Posted by skye | April 29, 2008 1:20 PM

Because everybody knows that if it's in the Enquirer, it's GOT to be true, right?

Posted by Fifty-Two-Eighty | April 29, 2008 1:21 PM

#10) I think you're missing a comma there.

"Slog: Now powerful, just, stupid."

Thank you for playing Slog.

Posted by Dan Savage | April 29, 2008 1:22 PM

Whether their marriage is troubled or blissful, Obama's wife will be a major problem for his campaign. Her "America disappoints me" attitude may seem completely normal in Seattle, but in Peoria it will not play well. She is not good at the political wife part and disowning her will be much harder than disowning Rev. Wright.

Posted by David Wright | April 29, 2008 1:25 PM

You know... this is growing on me: "Slog: Powerful, Just, Stupid." It is what we aspire to be. It really captures the spirit of this blog.

T-shirts coming soon. Thanks, Jay!

Posted by Dan Savage | April 29, 2008 1:25 PM

@21 put me down for one.

Posted by Hernandez | April 29, 2008 1:31 PM

Awkward. Now Bill will have to endorse him.

Posted by Zander | April 29, 2008 1:33 PM

Ben Smith wrote about this last October when the Enquirer was supposedly exposing John Edwards' extramarital affair, "The Clintonite who Owns National Enquirer. Go here for the story:

Posted by Bill LaBorde | April 29, 2008 1:37 PM

That's funny, I thought that the National Enquirer was a distraction tool of the CIA, since founder Generoso Pope was a CIA "psy war" man merely a year before he acquired the Enquirer.

Has Slog become part of the Grand Wurlitzer too? Inquiring minds want to--AAAaaiiiiii!

Posted by treacle | April 29, 2008 1:41 PM

I'm not paying for mine. I wear small. Thanks.

Posted by Mr. Poe | April 29, 2008 1:43 PM

Dang, now the Pulitzer Committee is going to have to give those intrepid investigative journalists over at the Enquirer ANOTHER award.

Given they've already won so many, the Committee should just retire the category.

Posted by COMTE | April 29, 2008 1:46 PM

I'll want a t-shirt also, if the graphic is good. Can there be a contest for the graphic?

Posted by LMSW | April 29, 2008 1:52 PM

Thank god Hillary's marriage is unblemished!....

Posted by You_Gotta_Be_Kidding_Me | April 29, 2008 1:58 PM

quit bein' such a fuckin' snob, elenchos. yoga, real simple, seattle metropolitan. whoop-de-shit.

Posted by scary tyler moore | April 29, 2008 2:26 PM

I read the article at lunch. It's hilarious...basically, they claim that Michelle Obama said "you better not have any skeletons in your closet and if you do you better tell me right now."

Has anyone else (Dan?) read the article?

Posted by Finishtag | April 29, 2008 2:39 PM

HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa oooooh myy HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaoooooo please HaHaHaHaHa!!!!

Posted by Vince | April 29, 2008 2:48 PM

reverend wright succeeds. i did not know a 'biggest loser' contestant was dying.

perhaps if obama denounces 'biggest loser,' the contestant will live.

Posted by chops | April 29, 2008 2:55 PM

#19: Make it happen boss!

Posted by Jay | April 29, 2008 2:56 PM

Uh, oh. The Clinton campaign was right! Oh, why, why, didn't we listen when they said Obama hadn't been vetted?

Posted by kk | April 29, 2008 4:09 PM

Well has anyone seen the cover story this week on The Globe (that other trashy tabloid right next to the Enquirer)? At least the candidates are getting equal love from the tabloids, if not from Slog and the rest of the media. C'mon Slog, I wanna see this in bold.

Posted by Kate | April 29, 2008 4:30 PM

Even if it weren't the Enquirererer, I've heard that woman talk. Nobody in their right mind would cross her. Barack isn't stupid.

Posted by violet_dagrinder | April 29, 2008 5:27 PM

Oh, come on, Kate - that story's been beaten to within an inch of its life.

Posted by Fifty-Two-Eighty | April 29, 2008 5:28 PM

@21....Um, duh Dan. He meant "NoT powerful, just stupid." It was a type-o, idiot. Because you said sarcastically "Man, Slog is powerful." Get it? Damn, I was gonna give you the benefit of the doubt but then you had to go and post the retarded t-shirt idea when you didn't even understand what he was saying (which was as lame as what you basically said).

Posted by Ugh | April 29, 2008 5:56 PM

Ugh? I knew it was a typo. I'm an asshole, not an idiot.

Thank you for playing Slog.

Posted by Dan Savage | April 29, 2008 8:06 PM

We all know it was about smoking, Dan. We were just yanking your chain.

Posted by Will in Seattle | April 30, 2008 1:31 AM

oh, and @14 - good to see someone else shops at PCC here ...
