Dear assholes who stole my credit card and charged up hundreds of dollars at two convenience stores, Blockbuster, and Taco Time (?!?) and then ditched my wallet and cards on two different Metro buses: Fuck you very much. I waited for it to come back around on the route, but it never did. I called metro. They were amazing. The operator kept me on hold as she called all the drivers, none of which had it. I gave her my number, went to work and canceled all my cards. Then my phone rang it was the same metro operator, she'd found my wallet (the original bus had switched routes) and If I hurried I could catch it downtown on its way to Seattle.

15 minutes later, and 4 blocks of chasing the bus down I had my wallet, cards and money all back.

Total time separated from my wallet: 3 hours.

I think that is an amazing thing to have happen in a city this size.

Some people are still good.

Seattle may technically be a big city, but in a lot of ways it's still a small town. One of the best things about it is that there are still great people who will do whatever they can to help you out in a situation like that.

Several years ago I somehow lost my driver's license. The person who found it Googled me, found my email address, and contacted me. It was pretty fucking amazing.

I was on my way to the airport when the driver called my name over the PA -- huh?? It was only then that I realized that I'd forgotten my briefcase on the previous bus. The driver of that bus read the nametag and somehow figured out where I was going (maybe he saw me board?). Several stops later, the two buses were at the same stop again. The drivers had me run back to get my bag and then reboard.

They were super-courteous and helpful.
