if you say you don't like it, then the terrorists have won

I like it, but the title really kills it for me. Now I hate it.

Important to note: I just yelled at Jen Graves for putting this on Slog because I thought it was just a big black smear titled "(Etc.)...September 11th...(Etc.)" and, really, come on. But in fact, it's a hand-stitched map of the star patterns as they occurred at the time in the title. There are three of them, including one for Antietam. I like that much better than a giant smear titled September 11th. That is all.

Did you actually yell at her? That's rude.

Hand stitched? that makes it seem way cooler than a simple time lapse photo of the northern sky

oh, i keep going back and forth on this one.

i thought the photo looked nice when i first scrolled by it.

later, like poe, i read the title, and thought it was a bit silly.

then i thought, what were the chances that she just happened to be taking a time-lapse photo during that time on that day? sure, a fortunate occurrence alone doesn't make art great. but it suddenly seemed less exploitive and more coincidental.

the fact that it's hand-stitched also sets it apart from a normal time-lapse photo. it is the familiar and pleasant image, with a unique flair.

unfortunately, it would no longer be unintentional. in fact, the date and time is even more significant since it is not a photo.

If there's anything there, I can't see it.
