As this is a projection with music, posting it here for any salient criticism is like asking one to comment on Mozart whilst having one's ears stuffed with wax.

At this point it looks like a cheap, cliched postcard, but the gallery Web site description of the piece sounds like it might actually be intriguing in actual execution.

What do you think of it, Jen? I still wish you'd give us your view on these Currently Hanging posts...

I agree. Even a brief criticism would make these posts more compelling. Maybe start a conversation. I understand the notion of letting the piece speak for itself, but in this format, your point of view would be as interesting as the piece itself.

Looks like a rock I'd enjoy climbing.

Does the availability of diachronic media render pieces like David's Horatii obsolete?

This piece makes me strangely uncomfortable. I wonder if seeing it in person would change or deepen that feeling.

But Jubiliation's use of the word "whilst" made me happy. And ditto what @1 & @2 said, I'd love to hear Jen's take on some of the work she posts.

It should be noted that VERY rarely does Graves ever see the work in person that she is posting for "Currently Hanging." She is simply pulling images from websites. It is an interesting form of promotion without authorization -- it is non-criticism, non-curatorial egalitarianism.

It is awful.

When it could be so good.

It is awful because of the commentary by a very small group that continues to post -- bitter, underrecognized, 'misunderstood', malappreciated artists (they way I read them) -- that will also never see the work in person, and doesn't know a thing about art since, say, 1945 or so...

"Currently Hanging" could be good because it should inspire informed debate and ideally people to get out from behind their computers and actually experience a little art in person.

I trust this was Graves' intention from the beginning.

Too bad it hasn't worked out.
