Busting Hummers?

This just in from Slog tipper Dan:

It is illegal in the City of Seattle to park a Hummer H2 on residential streets between the hours of 12-6! I stumbled upon this rarely enforced piece of code dating to 1979 when it was used against my motorhome when I parked near my house and have had to park it in commercially zoned areas ever since. Here it is:
“Seattle Municipal Code SMC 11.72.070 Commercial and large size vehicles.

No person shall park a vehicle on any street or alley, except in a Manufacturing or Industrial Zone as defined in the Zoning Code of Seattle (Ordinance 86300 as amended)1 between the hours of midnight and six (6) a.m. if the vehicle is a truck and/or trailer or other conveyance which is over eighty (80) inches wide.

(Ord. 108200 Section 2(11.72.070), 1979.)”

Here is a list of vehicles that might be subject to this ordinance (measurements from manufacturers website).
Hummer H2 = 81.2”
Escalade = 79.0” w/o mirrors
Toyota Sequoia = 79.8” w/o mirrors
Lincoln Navigator = 78.8” w/o mirrors
Ford Excursion = 80.0”
Ford F-250/350 = 79.9” w/o mirrors, 99.6 w/mirrors
All Dual Rear Wheel (Dualie) Trucks

I admit this is a kind of twisted revenge for having to move my vehicle, but when life gives you lemons…So all you Prius-driving Seattlites, arm yourselves with a tape measure, and let’s rid our residential neighborhoods of these heinous vehicles. It is enforced only on complaint, so you can call the vehicle complaint line (206) 684-8763 and even quote the code number (11.72.070). I am interested to see if they will abide by the letter of the law.

Hummer H2's should be illegal, all the time, everywhere. Escalades, too.
