Man, I hate it when that happens.

I've spent a lot of time in Russia, and can say that many times during extended visits I was drunk to the point that I would not have noticed a knife in my back. Those Russians know how to tie one on.

I was mugged and stabbed in the back while living in Atlanta years ago. I too had a 6 inch knife sticking out my back and did not know it until I stopped a guy coming out of his truck to have him call the police. He said "I'd better call an ambulance too cause you have a knife sticking out of your back". Same thing as for missing spine and organs. Half inch from anything vital.
