Slog - Comments on When was There "Normalcy" in Iraq?

So, I don't get it. Was Bush trying to reclaim President Warren G. Harding's infamous dunce cap oratory as a slap at us cosmopolitan anti-war elitists when he hauled out the "normalcy" is returning to Iraq quote yesterday. And when exactly were things normal in Iraq in George Bush's world view? When the U.S. had to enforce a no-fly zone and sanctions in the 90s? When Saddam was stalking us with WMDs? [sic] When Saddam was working with Al Qaeda? [sic] When Jay Garner was in control? [sic] When Halliburton was getting sweetheart deals? When there was no electricity? When...

I caught that "Return to normalcy" statement. Every step of the way George Bush has blown it in Iraq. And there are a lot of people who are deluded into "thinking" that these half- assed policys should continue. But what gets me the angriest, what I find unforgiveable, is the sending in our troops into a war of choice and badly equipping them so that many more were killed and injured than was necessary.
That I find criminal. I hope when he's finally run out of the White House he's hounded until his dying day by people who find him criminally responsible. What a detestable human this "pro-life" President is.

Josh - #5 is right. Re-read the first sentance of the link you gave: "...the charred and mutilated bodies of four contractors.."

Don't get me wrong - I agree with the premise of your article. But it's incorrect to state that the bodies of US troops were burned & hung. They were in fact military contractors.

@7 no, i'm not kidding. and when did i say there was no action in Fallujah? you're kidding, right?

i just remembered the incident that josh referred to like this:

1) Blackwater security guards roll into Fallujah.

2) crowd kills security guards

3) crowd drags, burn and hang security guards from bridge.

4) troops roll in and kick everyones ass to death.

i guess i've never heard of the incident in Fallujah where troops were burned and hung.

and if we're now calling security guards troops, please let me know.
