What’s for Lunch

posted by on March 14 at 11:51 AM

my boss keeps calling me for “important” things. apparently, he doesn’t know i’m supposed to be slogging today, not, you know, working.

but i’m on my lunch break now, so i finally get to do what i want. and i’ll start out by posting what i’m having for lunch:
microwavablebowling.jpg

while i don’t necessary think QFC really deserves the Q any longer, i still like it better than safeway. being a block from my place is rather convenient, as well. (trader joe’s and madison market are for weekend shopping trips.)

but every year they put these banquet macaroni and cheese dinners on sale for $1.00. (you don’t have to buy ten to get the discount.) and they come with a free-game-of-bowling coupon. since i picked up a pair of $2.50 bowling shoes at that greenwood thrift store before i closed, i basically get to bowl for free. and that makes $1.00 microwaved macaroni and cheese taste just good enough to eat.

here is a list of the bowling alleys that participate. don’t get too sad when you see sunset lanes listed.

also, i’m usually more healthy than this. really.

More support for the theory.

Wow, that really is a deal. If I were a cheese-eater I would be all over that. Actually, even if one didn't eat the mac and cheese it would still be a hell of a deal - how does that work?

Reminds me of the pudding in Punch-Drunk Love, where the value of the "bonus" is greater than the cost of the item.

Now I want mac & cheese. And pudding.

you know the saying, "you get what you pay for?"

well, with banquet, you get less than what you pay for. unless you're talking about diarrhea.

I laugh at people who they think they have to buy 10 to get the sale price. I wonder what other things they're missunderstanding in life.

@1 interesting theory. but i think it's more than that. it's not just the job, it's life. but the job is where one has easy access to post, would rather post than work, and can feel they are getting back at their boss. so those make it even more appealing.

but everyday we have to be nice to people at work we don't want to be nice to, and do things we don't want to do (well, most of us!). so it's not altogether surprising that comments with their genesis in that environment would tend to be a bit anger and/or bitter.

@2 i have no clue how they do it. but i've got a couple of coupons now. i'd eat your cheese for you, but i'd hate to make you even buy a cheese product. so, you can just have one or two of my coupons if you want. i consider them free.

@3 yeah, i didn't even think of that.

@4 no, i didn't want to think of that.

Infrequent, we're hella neighbors.

I remember back in the pre-Kroger days when QFC really did deserve the Q! Then I moved to Minnesota and back and QFC had gone to shit.

I had an Amy's soy Mac-n-Cheese for lunch and it was damned tasty. But, not $1.

boy, you're taking the "post anything you want" thing to heart.

it's more of a "post anything i can think of" type of approach. it took me almost until noon to get this one up!

Imperial Lanes. Embrace your inner south end.

That sounds dirty, doesn't it?

Not healthy? Isn't cheese a food group? And Mac and Cheese is a sub-food group! hehe ;)
