I just blocked all books with the word "Bible" in the title. I just don't want my family reading that filth.

Yes, the fundies agree that all people are incorrigible horny minks. They call it original sin. That's why they can't relax about it.

so they're selling to a demographic you're not a part of. big deal. if parents don't want their kids reading "bad" books, that's their perogative. and if kids insist, they can get those books from the library anyway.

If the fundies were being honest they would come out of the parenthetical closet to admit that when they say, "The American Family" they really mean, "The White, Christian, Conservative American Family"

I forgot the parenthesis: "The (White, Christian, Conservative)American Family"

now that sorta makes sense...

I don't know what it means, but I'm guessing Abunga will not be cowed.

Thank you.

This reminds me of that Christian version of wikipedia. These loons just don't quit.

Love it! Christians are apparently so weak-willed that if they even SEE a "questionable" book offered for sale, they will have no choice but to purchase it. Thank you Abunga for helping Christians avoid making any decisions for themselves in their book purchases.

The thing that continues to disturb me about this sort of thing is that it allows these extreme Christians (or, for that matter, any cultural/social group) to play the victims over and over again and I am genuinely worried that this could generate a critical mass of cultural sympathy and appeasement.

Maybe version 2.0 will include a way to burn books by proxy.

What is this, hate on Christians day?

More like Hate on Ignorance day. Or Hate on Those Who Want to Make Personal Decisions for Everyone Else Day.

I'm just waiting for when they start banning each others' "blasphemous literature"; for example, when the Southern Baptists band together and start banning books approved by the Fundamentalist Presbyterians or the Disciples of Christ, or the Pentacostals, or - well, you get the picture.

Because, you just KNOW it's bound to happen sooner or later.

@ 4&5, you forgot to mention southern. I'm so (not) proud to from the city where it started, lovely Knoxville, Tennessee... abunga appeals to all the southern baptists there.

Are they serious? You can get porn on Amazon? How come no one told me?

Well, since the Christian Fundie/Talibani types practice "I Hate Fags Day" EVERYDAY OF THE GAWDAMNED WEEK, I'm really NOT going to weep for them...

Tropic of Cancer is still available... you'd think they would've killed that before the site went up.

the ad banners on the sides of slog are now all for christian singles sites (because of the last couple of posts). apparently, there are thousands of them in my city.

Awesome! Let's all try to get Dan's books banned!!! How do we do it? It is always more fun to read books that are banned. hehe. And yah...amazon has porn??? do they sell condoms and lube too? or dildos? vibrators perchance?

Kristin, you might enjoy knowing that yes, they almost certainly do sell all of those things. At least, I can verify that they did at one point in time sell a dildo in the shape of a fist.
