Yay! Looking forward to seeing Adam Jones in the outfiel.... oh. Never mind.
gah, kill me now!
baseball:
who gives a shit?
mindless monopoly millionaires in a tax-the-poor stadium being boring as hell for a few hours.....
Yay! Now my commute will be fucked up again!
I-CHI-RO
I-CHI-RO
I-CHI-RO!
Hee hee, President Bush got booed last night throwing out the first pitch at Nationals Stadium
The man toy got tickets so I'll be there today, sipping beer in some AMAZING SEATS.
@3: Baseball is about relaxing and enjoying something. I don't care too much for it, but going to a game is an experince. You should get out of your gloomy "the world is bad cause I am not rich" cloud and try new things.
The Mariners!! Another super progressive, pro-gay rights athletic team subsidized by the tax payers!!!
No chance the stadium will collapse in the middle of the game is there?
I'll be there. I go every year to opening day. And every year they close the roof, whether it's raining or not. Supposedly the extended roof keeps the fans warmer. Pussies.
Fuck. However much Major League Baseball tries to chase me away as a fan - through steroids, through the Yankees, through the yearly self-destruction of my beloved Mariners - opening day always brings me back.
Hope springs eternal, indeed.
"No chance the stadium will collapse in the middle of the game is there?"
Not since they moved out of the Kingdome.
1995: In a referendum, the voters REJECTED spending public funds to prop up the mega-millionaires' plaything. Shortly thereafter, our democratically elected officials decided on a no-lube shafting of the citizens, by laying on the money, anyway.
We can have Earth Hour, but the amount of energy wasted just in all the fucked up traffic so many spring and summer evenings, washes that shit out in no time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but it's BASEBALL.
Prediction: Bedard gives up two hits, but loses 2-0 when Ibanez and Sexson each make two errors in the third inning.
Original Monique@7, please raise a plastic cup of beer for me. I'll be stuck here at the desk listening to Rick Rizzs on the radio. His voice is the only thing I don't miss during the off season.
Fnarf is right as usual, that scenario is highly likely to occur.
Today is a good day! Go Mariners!
Come on FNARF stop hating. This is our year dawg. We actually have a chance this year and besides I have tix to the Yankees and BO SOX series. Its a good year!
Ill be there on the view reserved seats right above home plate.
Beisbol has been very, very good to me.
All is well again, and for those of you who dont understand baseball, and the beauty of a no hitter. I pity you.
Fnarf is a devout USSM reader. He shares their doubt about this season.
I'm ready for baseball!
As for the season, we've made the projections and we know the Mariners' chances, but I'm going to take it one game at a time like every season. Your goal everyday is the same: win the game you're playing today.
I'm a bit more pessimistic than most of the USSM boys and girls. I'm pegging us at 78-84. That way I can only be pleasantly surprised.
Hell yes. I need to get some tickets for the Damn Yankees series.
To all of you sad sacks: I'll plan on attending opening day of The-End-Of-Poverty-Forever-And-Perfect-Schools-And-Healthcare-For-Everyone season, whenever you manage to implement that. In the meantime, permit us under-educated suckers a moment of joy for the beginning of baseball season.
