Fun Fact on Tibet: Did you know that before Tibet was taken over by China it was an absolutist monarchy? The citizens had no civil liberties and the Dali Lama has never mentioned that he would establish even a constitutional monarchy if Tibet was freed from China.

I would be all for "freeing Tibet" if their being free actually met, you know, making Tibet a free nation and the citizens of Tibet to map their own destiny.

On Spitzer:

Those paragraphs were OK, but the real gold was in the comments:

"I congratulate Spitzer on his hard-won freedom. Finally at the age of 48, he is free from the forced march of senseless over-achievement set by his tyrannical, parvenu father. Now, for the first time in his life, Spitzer can be his own man and not his father's boy. And, we're all the better for it. So long as the increasingly bitter and resentful Spitzer held office, we were all at risk from his flailing arms and roundhouse blows, all aimed at surrogates for the father who stole the first half of his life. With his Oedipal battle over, let the man grow a beard, sleep late (and with prostitutes if that's his preference), reinvent himself and start measuring success on his own terms.

Also on Spitzer: The article mentioned that many critics and interpreters of this 'issue' are dragging out the old saw that powerful men need the 'escape' and 'comfort' of anonymous sex as a result of their high-flying lives. Isn't that just another way of saying they can't handle the pressure?

My fav from the Spitzer story:

We all have our private hell. I hope his private hell is hotter than anyone else’s.” -Kenneth Langone, founder Home Depot

I gotta use that!

I know I shouldn't say this because the crane accident is really awful and people were killed, but I need to point out that a bar named Fubar was obliterated by a falling crane.
