"black separatist" is an extreme understatement.

"In another sermon, delivered five days after the 9/11 attacks, Wright seems to imply that the United States had brought the terrorist violence on itself.

'We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York, and we never batted an eye,' Wright says. 'We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is brought right back in our own front yards.'

In a later sermon, Wright revisits the theme, declaring: 'No, no, no, not God bless America — God damn America!'

Did we not do those things?

@1: Well, it's true. The problem with this country is that people don't want to discuss the obvious. Perhaps you should change your screen name to "Formerly unPC."

I have to agree with unPC. Not only is Obama a Muslim, but we know now that the pastor at his church is a racist.

@1: Right on.

Obama has campaigned on his strength of judgement (because that's all he really has going for him), and then has the audacity to ask us not to use "guilt by association."

Well, he chose to have this rabid pastor marry him, has been in his congregation all these years and is trying to do damage control now.

That's not the kind of judgement we want in the White House.

Hillary is looking better and better, John too!

unPC, do you have a life outside of trolling? Please tell us how you contribute to this great nation? *crickets*

The good news is that the young voters will get an education on the McCarthy years. How much association is worthy of guilt by?

The next step will be proving that Obama and/or his wife were in attendance during sermons that were on or over the edge.

With the relevations at the Rezko trial and the fact that it will be going on for two more months it is hard to see how Obama will survive with enough credibility to beat McCain or any Republican except Romney.

I hope that Gore steps up and that Obabma gets the Veep and HRC gets whatever she wants that is left.

The other option is that the Democratic party splits apart and a truly progressive party is formed and the South secedes and this time we let them.

@6: unPC a troll? So just how much intellect in your silly retort?

McG, why would you want a damaged Obama as Veep?

I honestly don't see how Obama could have done any more to distance himself from this kook. At the same time, though, I find it absolutely inconceivable that he sat in this man's church for more than 20 years and didn't have the slightest idea of his opinions.

So ... what is that Atlanta tornado being blamed on? Gays? Baby murderers? The Tasmanian Devil?

I haven't read much about this guy. What makes him a kook?

The MSNBC article cited quotes him as having said, "Barack knows what it means, living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people," and, "Hillary can never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a [N-word]!"

Obama is living in a country and culture that is controlled by rich white people. Does anyone dispute this? Hillary Clinton probably has never been called a nigger. Does anyone dispute this? Isn't it reasonable to assume that she is less able to understand the difficulties that blacks in the United States still face than Obama is?

People may not like what Obama's pastor is saying, but I don't see how any of it is not true. I would hope that someone who is running the country would listen to an individual who seems to understand justice and how one country's actions affect people (both positively and negatively). It's pretty sad if we can't see our own mistakes from our past and try and make things as just and fair for all involved.

Fitz good question - I think he would be able to escape much of this as VP and we'd have Dems for 16 years

"Barack knows what it means, living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people," and, "Hillary can never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a [N-word]!"

No one probably has called her the N-word, but plenty of people have called her the c-word, and plenty of men won't vote for her because she's a woman and would rather vote for any man (even a black man) rather than vote for a woman.

Women (of any color) face more discrimination than men (of any color) all through their lives, Reverend Wright.

Re: "Women (of any color) face more discrimination than men (of any color) all through their lives"

I'm sorry Y.F., but that claim is WAY too general. Are you honestly trying to argue that wealthy white American women face MORE discrimination than poor black American men? By countering the claim that HRC doesn't know discrimination (because she's not black) with the claim that she knows it BETTER than any black man (because she's a woman), you are simply flipping the terms in an already-oversimplified argument.

Access to power and wealth is determined by gender, by skin colour, by geography, sexual orientation, age, first language, physical appearance... and there are probably more disparities in access to power AMONG any given group than BETWEEN these groups.

Let's lose this "blacks vs. women" argument, now. It achieves nothing.

But Obama's the new President.

So if Alabama is throwing women into prison for endangering their fetuses by using drugs while pregnant, are they planning on imprisoning all the women who smoke or drink while pregnant?

yeah, that's it. Scare moms out of getting prenatal care, that'll protect those fetuses.
