Project Runway Finale Tonight at 10 pm

posted by on March 5 at 12:55 PM

Tonight we’ll watch the remaining designers shine in their own spotlights on the runway at Bryant Park.
badrunway3.jpgGod knows they deserve to show real work after laboring through a dozen absurd challenges this season (clothes from candy wrappers, dressing female wrestlers and prom-bound brats, reworking Spandex and denim…).

Last week Rami’s sophisticated constructions (nary a drape in sight) beat out Chris March’s human-hair-embellished (gorgeous) dresses. Rami joins Jillian and Christian in the final walkoff tonight.

Don’t be fooled by the pomp though—Bryant Park isn’t a total return to respectableness: Victoria Beckham shows up as a guest judge. Posh will adore fan-favorite Christian to death, I’m sure. (Anyone else relieved for this season to end?)

If you need to catch up, Bravo is running a Season 4 marathon all day today. Then come back at 10 pm when Eric Grandy, Dan Savage, Megan Seling, and I will host one last PR live blog. See you on your couch.

Was anyone else thinking that it would have been awesome if when Chris took Tim to hang out with his friends they all had big chunks of hair missing?

I'm so stoked. I've been looking forward to this all week.

God they better not fuck up Top Chef like the abortion Project Runway turned into this season.

We should have done a party again, even though the season stunk.

Chris and Rami were both great last week. I think the idea of someone like Chris (size, taste) at Bryant Park was too much for our fashion-damaged judges to contemplate. His designs were slightly less trendy than Rami's, but just as well designed and beautifully realized.

And even though I saw Rose McGowan in a human-hair trimmed dress when she was boinking Manson (nasty on every level), Chris' hair fringe was gorgeous.

Still, I want to see Jillian's face when Christian wins it tonight, if only because I am a mean old fag.

With Rami's new choices, no one will be saying "Draped" anymore. That and no more of Ricky's crying jags and we no longer have our PR drinking game. I don't know how I'll enjoy this finale sober.

sincerely,

Now when I watch, I can't help but get distracted by all the disingenuous talk about not making it to Bryant Park. Chris DID make it to Bryant Park, and so did Sweet P! Even if they were there as decoys to prevent spoiling who the top 3 were, the audience didn't know they were already out of the contest, so they still got some great exposure. I know they're made to say the lines when they get auf'ed, but since we know they actually got to show there, it just seems like lying. And reality TV never lies, I know.

I don't have Bravo but would love to watch this live...

Are there any public viewing parties going on? I remember there was a big thing at Spitfire a season or two back. Anyone know of any bars that will be showing it on TV ?

Posh Spice is surprisingly entertaining TV. She's brash and snotty and made out of the finest componentry modern science has to offer. I think we're going to like this.

AA: Spitfire only has East Coast cable feeds, but you can call them right now and ask them to TiVo the earlier showing for you. They will, happily, I bet.

I know we should have thrown a party, but we were feeling so ambivalent about the show two weeks ago that we decided against it. Also Schmader is out of town and it's awfully hard to have a good party without him.
