UW researchers say comprehensive sex ed cuts teen pregnancies

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/health/2004293974_sexed20m.html

It's news and sex. All together. News. Sex.

maybe by then you can explain what this exactly means: "The State Department says security on Barack Obama's passport file has been breached, campaign officials tell CNN."

How about with the whole teen pregnancy stuff and the recent CDC report on STDs the boys aren't mentioned at all, as in boys don't seem to get STDs and girls are getting the clap and knocked up all by themselves. Unless of course its gay boys, but then its only men, 'cause you can't talk about gay teens have sex 'cause some how they're neuter or something and back to the....how can you know you're gay if you've never had sex, etc. crap.

But more so the former. And yes, spell my name properly when you cite me as a source. I would have figured all you reporters would be all over US TEEN GIRLS DISEASED, US TEEN BOYS SEEK SEX IN EUROPE or some such claptrap.

Talk about McCain unapologetically calling Asians "gooks" (in front of reporters, no less) while the press still natters away about the Wright stuff.

Talk about Hillary Clinton agreeing to the pledge to honor the DNC ruling not to campaign in Florida or Michigan (and please read ON AIR the EXACT WORDING of the pledge and her campaign's response). Discuss her actions in Florida and Michigan and now insisting she didn't break the rules.

Talk about whether Professor Obama's speech did any good for Candidate Obama's chances (and how much of even reached the ears or eyes of Lunchbucket White Males whose votes he needs).

Density. People living in dense, urban, walkable neighborhoods have a much smaller carbon footprint, but Seattle's population is barely above the pre-Boeing Bust diaspora of the 70s. There's a great post on www.noisetank.com/HUGEASSCITY right now about the need for political cahones, and support for the policy changes that would allow Seattle to aggressively fight climate change by welcoming new residents. Why should we care? Because we as a society need to reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent to to prevent the worst effects of climate change. If Seattle isn't going to solve the land use policy problems that got us here, who WILL lead us in the right direction?

@8

you suggest "Talk about Hillary Clinton agreeing to the pledge to honor the DNC ruling not to campaign in Florida or Michigan (and please read ON AIR the EXACT WORDING of the pledge and her campaign's response). Discuss her actions in Florida and Michigan and now insisting she didn't break the rules."

You got that pledge and its wording? Please share.

If you don't have it why do you assume a pledge that says do not campaign is a pledge to not try to seat delegates?

I see how you can say it's implied but come now. It should be explicity. I've asked for the exact wording of this several times and no one to my knowledge ever looked it up or found it.

anybody got the actual document?

You could also add to your list of questions:

How can the candidates bind the 4 million voters of FL or MI who did nothing wrong and who agreed to nothing and who didn't sign any pledge at all?

Can we now have a party that takes away primary voting rights becuase insiders and leaders make rules or break rules, doesn't that violate the fundamental right to vote?

and whatever wrongdoing there was or was not...isn't the decision to take away millions of people's right to vote wrong?

stupid?

makes Democrats look like idiots and incompetents?

makes Crist look great?

Four State Pledge Letter 2008:

Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina
August 31, 2007

WHEREAS, Over a year ago, the Democratic National Committee established a
2008 nominating calendar;
WHEREAS, this calendar honors the racial, ethnic, economic and geographic
diversity of our party and our country;
WHEREAS, the DNC also honored the traditional role of retail politics early in the
nominating process, to insure that money alone will not determine our
presidential nominee;
WHEREAS, it is the desire of Presidential campaigns, the DNC, the states and
the American people to bring finality, predictability and common sense to the
nominating calendar.
THEREFORE, I _______________, Democratic Candidate for President, pledge
I shall not campaign or participate in any state which schedules a presidential
election primary or caucus before Feb. 5, 2008, except for the states of Iowa,
Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina, as “campaigning” is defined by
rules and regulations of the DNC.

Sept. 1, 2007
Clinton Campaign Statement on the Four State Pledge

The following is a statement by Clinton Campaign Manager Patti Solis Doyle:

"We believe Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina play a unique and special role in the nominating process.
And we believe the DNC’s rules and its calendar provide the necessary structure to respect and honor that role.
Thus, we will be signing the pledge to adhere to the DNC approved nominating calendar."

the boys aren't mentioned at all, as in boys don't seem to get STDs and girls are getting the clap and knocked up all by themselves.

Hetero girls have much higher rates/probability of contracting STI's than hetero boys. And, the male pregnancy rate has only risen from 0.0% to 0.000000007% .

This is why we need comprehensive sex ed!

Glad to see that you'll be there, I hope that's a regular thing. The panel is good but could use a little shaking up. I think you should talk about:

-The urgency of expanding light rail service in the NW.

-The outcome of Obama's speech, which essentially went beyond answering questions about Rev.Wright and outlined a new progressive point of view.

-The idea of super delegates meeting early to make a decision, so as not to waste the summer.

-Recent poll numbers, which could be an indication that the Democrats' in-fighting is benefiting McCain, even while he demonstrates his lack of understanding of what's going on in the Middle East, and continues to take an antagonistic stance toward Iran.

-The lack of connections being made in the media between the cost of the war (some estimates say so far more than 1000x what Cheney estimated) and the economic recession.

The main story missed this week was the veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars gathering in Silver Spring, Maryland last weekend for the Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan hearings where they offered testimony about atrocities they had witnessed or participated in directly. The horrors of war don't always make good print but first hand accounts of what's going on over there should. Google Winter Soldiers.
