Is Brian Weinstein hot? Because hot mildly retarded guys turn my crank.

This has nothing to do with me. Poopsies!

Being sexy (and acknowledged as sexy) shouldn't/doesn't diminish a woman's professional savvy, dedication to the good fight, or her power to do meaningful, smart work.

Nice triple post in the original thread, Senator Oversensitive. Perhaps you might learn how this whole Internets thing works before shooting your fucking mouth off- Josh isn't our Dad (though he could probably be Mr. Poe's sugar daddy...)

No.

No, he couldn't.

Why can't every single anonymous, unaccountable internet post be nice? Why?

Some comment sites are casual, others formal - this one is not formal, sir

The testy legislator from Mercer Island is simply very up tight - oh well ... and how could Josh know his prude index rating?

Glad the Lobbyist lady does good work, so do hundreds of others in Olympia, many UNPAID ... session after session

Josh has a crush on her or she would be ignored

Big Sven @4!! That was harsh. I'm gonna write my local legislative representative and see if he can write you a letter that would whip you back into shape.

Heh Heh, he said "fist"...

Interesting how a LONG list of legislative trivia is more important than transportation, taxes, or education.

Olympia is full of ego and hot air.

Sad. There is work to be done.

CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO DECIDE HOW TO BUILD OR FUND A MAJOR BRIDGE - GOD FORGIVE THEM, STUPID AND NO TALENT BUNCH OF BLOATED EGOS.

Well, not God. Duped voters will have to do the forgiving.

Whoa, wait a minute...she's cute? She's sexy? I'm re-arranging my return flight through Oly - where do I pick up my press pass?

Sigh. It's pretty frustrating that the minute you recognize the work a young woman does, the predictable and dull reactions follow: cat calls; speculation that the news editor has a crush on her; and the compound double reverse backlash that slams someone like Sen. Weinstein when he tries to remind readers about her work.

No shit Sherlock. Obviously Kim Justice is good looking—you'd have to be blind as a bat not to see that. (And Katelyn @3 is right that saying so doesn't diminish Justice's work. And it's probably even fun and flattering for Justice to hear).

But Weinstein is right to call bullshit on some of the boorish comments and remind people that Justice was getting a shout out from Slog for a great session.

It was inspiring to see Justice—a young, lesbian progressive—beating the standard issue corporate lobbyists on one of the centerpiece bills of the session.

Hmm, will obviously not be getting a press pass from you anytime soon. Maybe Keenan Hollihan can help.

@12

Josh, if you don't want catcalls and trolls and pointless crap on your blog, talk to your management as to why they can't register user accounts. Or hide posts from everyone but the person who posted them, like sfgate.com.

It's like having no public bathrooms for miles and then "calling bullshit" on homeless people pissing on the ground. Hello, reality!

The Slog has a technical problem. An infrastructure problem. If you can't fix that, at least learn enough about the Internet to realize that posting letters complaining about internet trolls is nothing more than feeding the trolls.

If you feed the trolls, you own the trolls. Don't complain to me about your trolls. Their yours, not mine.

Josh, stuff a sock in it. Katelyn's comment at 3 might as well have ended the thread, but since it didn't, her goes:

You posted a picture of her because she's beautiful, and you wondered how people might react in the comments. You wanted more, so you posted another lovely picture of her (and a tiny note about her achievements which, at 29 and still in school, make me feel like a total loser).

I don't think any of us are leaping to unfounded conclusions given who you are, what you care about, and your reputation around town by concluding that you are sexually infatuated by this person whose image you cannot stop posting to slog.

In closing, I hope that when I start doing Big Things, people think that I am both smart AND sexy. I don't pay that gym membership for nothin'.

Just as there will always be obnoxious comments on blogs that allow anonymous posting, there will always be people there to express how shocked - shocked! - they are at the existence of obnoxious comments on blogs that allow anonymous posting.

Trolls? I don't see any trolls here. Except maybe in your own mind. And elenchos' mind, of course, but he seems to have a demonstrable track record of manufacturing demons crawling out from under the woodwork. Go back on your medication folks - both of you - and lighten the fuck up.

Just how much can we say about a stranger who is paid well, and does her job well - HERE, Julie who is not related to me, ask for a bonus, you seemingly did a great job. Charge MORE next session. Do not use Josh from the Stranger as a reference, after all.

Is she running for office? Then she would be really public - lets' encourage her to move to Mercer Island and run for the soon to be empty senate seat

As far a being Lesbian, well, Josh there are about 50,00 Lesbians in the 5 mile area around your offices - surprise - but I bet she gets a lot of dates from your personal classified

And the guy from Mercer Island is retiring - good riddance - who needs a scold? Lighten up Brian, we all know you want her .... after all, this is SLOG not the blog of the stiff necked prudes and humorless dried up old men from Oly

Katelyn@8: not my legislative representative! I'll be good- I promise!

elenchos, as usual, is right. It is disingenuous of the Stranger staffers to create an anonymous comment board and then whine when people act like anonymous smart asses.

Although I would tell Brian Weinstein that he's an oversensitive twee to his face.

The funniest thing is that only one comment about Kim Justice seemed, to my jaded eye, beyond the bounds of propriety- 43 out of 44 were respectful. Probably a record at the SLOG.

OK, into the fray with another "nice" post this week (geezus, what's wrong with me--TWO nice posts in the same week?)

Kim J is completely, thoroughly cuter than cute. And this, as I've said before, coming from a big ol' homo.

Her record is impressive and worthy of commendation. You all should be proud she's "on our side." And by "our" I don't mean G/L...I mean reasonable people who've actually given some thought to issues and decided to take a stand.

Good for you, Kim Justice. You deserve the recognition. Keep fighting for what's right!

Well, I for one, thought that I phrased my expression of lust for her in a most respectful, honoring sort of way. So, whatevs.

Pathetic but true wherever there's a hottie and a comment section. Don't like it, don't post the pic.

Poopy.

@12 - I call bullshit. Your second post included a gratuitous and unnecessary picture, which I might add was LARGER than the one you used in the original article.

Since I made the first post in your second article, I will clarify that the person I was objectifying and cat-calling was YOU, not her. All in good fun I might add, and I think you set yourself up. Just my opinion.

This lady is nice looking - but hardly hot. Good on the job, great. Good political operatives make big money if they are good.(hint, the BIG time is in DC)

NW women do not have a good reputation as beauties. You need to come down here to SLC and take a look around.

And spare me the mormon jokes, this city is only about 40 per cent mormon.... and lots of lesbians if that is your thing.

josh @12, you get pretty sanctimonious on behalf of women (and most things, actually), but if it had been about a nice-looking guy with a smile like that, the post would have generated all the same comments.

and (speaking of sanctimonious) it would have been good if weinstein had a sense of the slog (and stranger) culture before he weighed in (not that his intentions don't seem honorable). it's got its intellectual seriousness, but it's not like it's the nation or something.

I'm with Sven @23, I hadn't read the original comments, but after this post I did. They didn't seem that bad for me, with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 of them. Pretty good for Slog. Sure, a bunch of people acknowledged that she is cute (duh), but most did it "fist in glove" with comments on how awesome her activism is. Katelyn @3 has it right..
