I love the campaign spokeswoman: "When she said, 'We had to run with our heads down because people were shooting at us,' what she really meant was that people were shooting at something, somewhere, maybe in the nearby mountains, far enough away that you can't hear it but just have to assume it's there, and also we didn't have to run at all. So she misspoke. Innocent mistake. What's the big deal?"

It shows valuable national security experience, if you ask me. The idea that she doesn't have more national security and foreign policy experience than Obama is absurd.

Due to the possibility of sniper fire, our pilots used what we were told are "assault take-offs and landings." In short, the climb and descent are very fast, and very steep to minimize exposure to hostile fire on the ground.

It's exciting and frightening and, in the midst of it all, wearing our helmets and bulletproof vests, it's easy to imagine we may be narrowly escaping enemy bullets.

In reality, we had no known incidents of enemy fire on our aircraft. Mindful of the fact that we were with the First Lady, and that she was venturing farther inside Bosnia than her husband the President had ever gone, reporters kept a close eye to the crowds and never entirely went off-guard.

However, the mood upon first landing at the Tuzla airport was light. Children were there on the tarmac to greet the first lady, Chelsea was by her side, Bosnian dignitaries had gathered: It felt safe.

Later, Mrs. Clinton and her party ventured further into the country via military helicopter, landing at one of the former frontlines of the war, Camp Alicia. According to my notes of the event, the First Lady and Chelsea deboarded without incident and made their way down a line of American soldiers, thanking them for their service. They climbed a lookout tower, were shown a mine-sweeping machine, and talked to a number of soldiers. They shared jokes with the troops, ate a meal there and then moved onto another Camp: Camp Bedrock. Mrs. Clinton and Chelsea walk off the plane and were taken to visit M*A*S*H patients nearby.

To be sure, it was not the "safest" trip for a First Lady to take: there were serious risks in traveling to Bosnia, even for the President's wife under the vigilant protection of the U.S. military. It took some guts for her to go. But I don't recall, and did not note, any close calls on this trip with sniper fire or any other dangers.

Chicago Gay dude; she lied flat out about what actually transpired on the trip. Also, by this qualification Sinbad has as much foreign policy experience as Hillary.

Is this like the story Obama floated about not having any involvement with REzko. And then having a little involvement with him, but then giving back the money. And then having lots of involvement with him, but who cares?

Or like his spiritual leader spouting hate and craziness from the pulpit? Your guy is just a politican, like the rest of him. Set down the Kool-Aid, Eli. Breathe.

The Stranger could use some more fair and balanced reporting on this one...

Fluteprof, one doesnt need to refute the lies of their favored candidate by bringing up the fibs of their opponent. One needs to justify how many lies they are willing to tolerate from their chosen candidate before they abandon their support of them.

@11 Be serious. Sinbad went up in the tower, saw the mine-sweeping machine, talked with the soldiers, etc. on this trip ? And he also went on every single other trip that she did for 8 years.

The idea that she isn't more experienced is ridiculous.

Chicagogaydude, the idea that that is "foreign policy experience" is not only ridiculous, it's embarrassing. Anyone could gain more valuable "experience" in Bosnia, or Northern Ireland, by reading a magazine article than through these meaningless photo ops. She "went up in the tower"? Wow, so she's qualified to make decisions about what, stairs? In Northern Ireland, she sat down to tea. We're supposed to be impressed by this sort of thing?

@13 Keep in mind this is a trip she brought her CHILD on. She would have been better off not exaggerating the danger she was in. Before, she could have argued she did have some modest level of genuine foreign policy experience. Now, she just looks ridiculous.

The Irish, north and south, know perfectly well that when discussing various Americans' roles in their peace process, neither Clinton comes up at all. The one who did the heavy lifting is George Mitchell, formerly D-ME in the US Senate. Bill Clinton wasn't a significant player, and Hillary wasn't there at all.
