Well considering that the pit bull got into the fight on its own free will, I kinda feel like justice was served here. Hopefully the dog learns its lesson. I have seen some really sweet and well trained pit bulls, and some a-holes who are wreckless with their dogs, and the people around them.

Sorry about the old photo. I realize the Internet is a race. But somehow the previous postings of this picture escaped my notice. I apologize for wasting the precious limited resource that is the Internet on a picture that has already been posted to other websites.

I don't feel sorry for that pit bull. This is just more evidence of how pit bulls are the spawn of satan and need to be eradicated. look how many goddamn quills are stuck in that thing's face! it will never stop! it is the dog version of terminator!

just kidding....mostly...

I remember looking at pain in my uncles black lab when I was a kid ... decided to break into my uncles tackle box and I think he was chewing leuers (spelled right).

But he obviously MUST have been a pit bull because pit bulls are the only types of dogs that can get into a wreckless mischief.

(Still makes me shudder every time I think about it.)

Dan @ 11, thanks for the apology. Perhaps you can offset your wastefulness by contributing to a company that deletes redundant posts from the internets.

Well of course he abused his pit bull. That's what you're supposed to do. How do you think pit bulls get so mean and vicious? TLC and Iams?

@17 ha!

hey pit bull lovers, dan posted something sympathetic towards pit bulls... you should take what you can get!

or maybe he just delighted in the picture of a pit bull suffering... like a bully getting his/her comeuppance...

The tenacity of that Pit Bull reminds me of Clinton and her minions attacking Obama, but Obama, the brave porcupine warrior that he is, just struts away, leaving Big Sven and everything else that is wrong with this country howling in the night. I am going to write a children’s book about this epic struggle, and try to steer the youth of tomorrow right.

This is just like on the Portland Mercury's blog when Matt Davis announced that everyone should check out Pandora.

Which I did ... in 2004.

Just would like to point out that the dog pictured actually is not a "pit bull," that would be a Bull Terrier. They're a completely different breed from the "pit bull" (which is actually considered an American Staffordshire Terrier by the American Kennel Club, and is only recognized by the United Kennel Club as an American Pit Bull Terrier), and has a completely different demeanor than the "pit bull," being fantastic family dogs that are great with children. I just didn't want to see such a great breed trashed by people who didn't know any better. And as a vet student, there really isn't any creature who deserves this...except maybe Ann Coulter.

@25 ... thank you someone who knows something about dog breeds! When it comes to identifying a breed, people are ruthless in their apathy on how dog breeds are identified, and dog breeders are ruthless in their diligence to keep a breed "pure".

@23 Obamatron? I honestly don't give a shit anymore. Obama is young, has little experience and thus little trash to throw back at him. I see him a young charasmatic idealistic politician, rising through the ranks much like Kennedy did (sheer charisma, and ideology, no record), only to accomplish little to nothing in office ... and maybe get shot (whack jobs in this country).

but did I say that out loud ...

Obama, if you listen carefully sounds a little holier than though when it comes to talking about "family values". It kind of scares me sometimes.

Commenter number 25 beat me to it -- unless you'd count Spuds McKenzie as one, this dog ain't a pit bull.

Obviously the dog's face is obscured in these pictures, but the point remains: people sometimes have a hard time distinguishing pit bulls from other breeds. Joe Bystander probably doesn't know what breed of dog he saw, and Jane Reporter probably isn't going to waste any time verifying the breed.

For those of you who think that you could pick a pit bull out of a line-up, go ahead and take a shot at doing so:

That picture begs the question:

If that dog has 1300 quills in his face, what does a porcupine look like with no quills?

That dog isn't a pit bull, its one of those Spuds Mackenzie type of bull terriers.
