Nathan Lee Dumped

posted by on March 26 at 10:54 AM

The ever-shrinking pool of staff film critics at the Village Voice (and thus the Seattle Weekly, which gets nearly all of its film content from its sister papers in New York and LA) just got more parched: Nathan Lee has been laid off “for economic reasons.” Here’s The House Next Door and The Reeler (featuring some fratboy snark in the comments from one of Lee’s colleagues).

Dude the LA Weekly SUCKS big time now. It used to be awesome, but I can't read it anymore. It's really sad.

Economic reasons? That makes no sense. Why would a film critic need to know about economics?

No, no elenchos, you misunderstand. He got laid off because he DID understand economics ... he was a threat, so they took pre-emptive precautions.

Anyway, the VoiceMedia/Weekly don't need human film critics, they have robots for that.
