If the Pakistanis think that placating Al Queda and the Taliban will reduce violence they will be sadly mistaken. Those groups are a violent and oppressive ideology opposed to the very democracy that elected the new Pakistani leadership.

Bottom-line: State Dept. signed off on the trip by the three Congressmen - Reps who were trying to cut through the bellicose bullshit of an Administration and enabling Media determined to go to war. This was a Foggy Bottom fuck-up; not Bagdad Jim's.
As Congressman Thompson said yesterday, he wanted to see a bit for himself what the situation was in Iraq before committing support to a military action that even the once tub-thumping editor of this paper has since acknowledged was wrong.
Iraq is blowing up, and the MSM discusses Hillary in Bosnia & Rev Wright. And we wonder why people keep voting for Republicans.
I wish we could get foriegn governments to pay for all congressional junkets. Save on tax money and help the trade imbalance.
