I hope the Gov. signs the toxic toy legislation. Toys should not be poison. She fought the tobacco poisoners and she should keep up the good fight.
If the Pakistanis think that placating Al Queda and the Taliban will reduce violence they will be sadly mistaken. Those groups are a violent and oppressive ideology opposed to the very democracy that elected the new Pakistani leadership.

What reduces violence is War.

God damn McDermott for trying to shed a little light on the truth. Josh, keep after him for one of the few good and courageous things he has done.

I don't like McDermott. But this is a non-story.

Bottom-line: State Dept. signed off on the trip by the three Congressmen - Reps who were trying to cut through the bellicose bullshit of an Administration and enabling Media determined to go to war. This was a Foggy Bottom fuck-up; not Bagdad Jim's.

As Congressman Thompson said yesterday, he wanted to see a bit for himself what the situation was in Iraq before committing support to a military action that even the once tub-thumping editor of this paper has since acknowledged was wrong.

On McD:

1) He was right.

2) “None of the Congressional representatives are accused of any wrongdoing, and we have no information whatsoever that any of them were aware of the involvement of the Iraqi Intelligence Service,” said Dean Boyd, a Justice spokesman.
