More Democratic Debates!

posted by on March 13 at 15:47 PM

I was completely sick of them by the time Texas and Ohio rolled around. There had been—what, something like 20 by that point?

But with all the new arguments about race, re-do elections, and red phones, I’m ready to see Clinton and Obama go at it again. Mark your calendars: Two more debates will be held, one in Philadelphia on April 16 and one in North Carolina on April 19.

(And we’ll do our part by updating our handy election events calendar, which is right over here on the nice page we’ve created for one-stop election clicking.)

The theme for the next debate should be bottles and knives.

I bet they talk about health care.

Maybe they will bitch-slap each other. It's not like they've been discussing anything of substance lately. Bammy should let his black half come out! Hitlery could respond in kind. Then we can see what they are REALLY about. The GOP is watching you!

An actual debate, as opposed to the newspanelly questionny thingee they've been doing, might be interesting.

Whose bright idea was it to have the second one on a Saturday?

But I can just imagine the news stories on the 20th. "Harborview Medical Center was overrun late last night with cases of alcohol poisoning. When asked what caused them to over do it, several of the victims simply said 'the debate.'"

This is going to get worse before it gets better.

I made a mistake earlier in the campaign reading news digests of the debates instead of listening to them. When I listened through I was amazed and the depth of both candidates. Reporting of the debates is immeasurably shallower than the debates themselves seems to focus only on fisticuffs. I suggest people listen more to the debates, and less to the reporters.
The former makes you feel good, the latter, bad.
