Yeah, but then again, if he had gotten the part, then he would have been the one paralyzed from the neck down, so maybe it's a good thing.

Gosh, and just yesterday I found out Mickey Dolenz was slated to be The Riddler in the Batman movie before Tim Burton bowed out and it went to Jim Carrey, drat.

What, Bradley, did you catch that film on TV this weekend, too? I was helping my brother replace a bathtub when someone in the living room stumbled across it. I ... well ... it was almost hypnotically awful. It took fifteen minutes to tear my eyes away and go back to work.

Four words: Bruce Jenner's treasure trail.

Two more: Steve Guttenberg.

I don't know what to think about the Superman thing. I'm now reliving the trauma of the words noted above.

Brad, look at Richard Gere's and John Travolta's career. Travolta turned down "Chicago" to do "Battleship Earth". Travolta also turned down And Officer and a Gentleman. Lucky for him, Travolta did not turn down Pulp Fiction.

My fave is still Tom Selleck taking a pass on Indiana Jones. Dumbfuck.

@6--I think it was Amy Irving, not Sissy Spacek in the switcharoo deal.

@10 Yah, but if Tom Selleck had done Indiana Jones, he would have had to give up Magnum... and more importantly, as Indiana his Marion would have been played by Sean Young.

And thank sweet Jesus that didn't happen.

For an internet site devoted entirely to trivia about name actors turning down notable movie roles or not getting hired for parts they'd wanted to play, see:
