John McCain is the Republican Nominee

posted by on March 4 at 18:10 PM

It’s official. With his projected win in Texas, McCain now has enough delegates to absolutely, positively, without-a-doubt clinch the Republican nomination. So long, Mike Huckabee.

And in the Dept. of Questionable Next Moves: CNN says President Bush will endorse McCain tomorrow.

UPDATE: Huckabee drops out, and in his concession speech (which begins with a very long and convoluted baseball analogy) says to his supporters:

The two campaigns that have been run in the most civil manner are the two in the Republican party… It’s now important that we turn our attention, not to what could have been or what we wanted to have been, but what must be.

He quoted the Apostle Paul:

I fought the good fight. I have finished the race. And I have kept the faith.

And he said of McCain… Nothing.

Former Pres Bush and Jeb Bush already endorsed him, so not surprising.

Bush: Obama wrong on talking with enemies

I think the above statement might be a plus for Obama, given the support for Bush's foreign policy initiatives.

I hope that Bush goes out there every day, all across the country, campaigning with McCain.

john mccain's speech is so incredibly uncompelling and unconvincing. he needs to work on the whole reading-the-teleprompter thing.

Once again The Stranger gets it wrong. Just caught the replay of Huckabee's speech on the cable news networks and Huckabee spoke at length about how great a guy John McCain was, how he ran an honorable campaign and how he was supporting the Arizona senator.

I'm sure a correction is on its way.

Post Script: And yeah, I copied and pasted the same comment on Dan's misinformation above but you guy's aren't worth the added effort.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people. They could still elect another worthless Republican.
