2008 It’s March 4!

Another Tuesday, another cluster of Democratic nominating contests. But what do we call this one? Super Tuesday II: Judgment Day? Nightmare on Tuesday, the Return-watch Returns? Presidential Campaigns Die Hard, Part 13?
Anyway, here we are, two months after the Iowa caucuses, with the race for the Democratic nomination still not settled—but perhaps about to be finally settled tonight. Or not.
The real question is: Where will you be when it all happens? Of course you should be here with us on Slog, where we’ll be blogging the results. But if you also want to inhabit a non-virtual space this evening, two parties we’ve heard about are below. (If you know of others, send them to me and I’ll add them to this post.)
But before we get to the parties, here’s the returns schedule, with all times PST: Vermont returns begin to come in at 4 p.m.; Ohio returns at 4:30 p.m.; Rhode Island returns at 6 p.m.; Texas primary returns at 6 p.m.; and the Texas caucuses kick off at 6:15 p.m.
Now the parties. Here’s one at Spitfire:
This Tuesday March 4 come watch the Dems finally choose their candidate – Election results should start coming in around 6pm with all the numb-nut analysis of the pundits to follow. Obama fans will surely be able to celebrate, Clinton fans can argue about why Hil should keep running, or maybe Clinton will be the new ‘comeback kid’, again. Seattle, WA- Grassroots supporters of presidential candidate Barack Obama (D-IL) announced today that they will be holding a “Super Tuesday 2 (TX/OH/RI/VT) Results Watch Party” tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4, starting at 5:00 pm at F.X. McRory’s Steak Chop & Oyster House, located at 419 Occidental Avenue South in the Pioneer Square district part of downtown Seattle.“With polls showing Senator Obama closing the gap in both Texas and Ohio, it is very unlikely that Senator Clinton will win by a wide enough a margin to justify her continuing in the race, ” said Peter Masundire, media and communications director for the grass-roots group Washington for Obama. “We may wake up on Wednesday morning with a nominee for the Democratic Party” he continued.
In addition to watching the results from the four states coming in, attendees will also get an opportunity to learn about the Legislative District caucuses that take place on April 5th where delegates for legislative districts will be elected.

Super Tuesday Two: The Wrath of Hillary.
Can you just picture it? Hillary tells Obama, "And now I shall leave you as you left me...buried alive, BURIED ALIVE!!"
I predit we won't know the TX delegate count until the national convention, if then. (Primaries and caucuses on the same day? WTF?)
We'll get a popular vote and then the losing candidate will claim they have more delegates.
Umm, no. Delegates for the STATE and NATIONAL Convention will be elected at the Legislative District caucuses.

@7: Uh, are you feeling OK, Sven? Delegates elected at the precinct level were "precinct delegates" because they represented their precincts; likewise, delegates elected at the legislative district might be called "legislative district delegates" because they represent their LDs. Clearly, the precinct delegates are not now going to precinct conventions; and neither are the legislative delegates going on to legislative district conventions.
I live in Central Ohio (east-side Columbus/Gahanna to be specific) and I can say that if only the major cities were voting, it would probably go to Obama no problem. Ohio State campus is a complete Obamafest (I'm not saying Obamarama dammit) but local news polls keep putting Clinton ahead by 5-8 points. If Obama wins it doesn't look like it will be by a very large margin.

I'll be happily avoiding all of this and read the, likely, unsurprising news tomorrow morning. ("Obama scores better but Hillary in MAJOR COMEBACK!")
And hence this will drag on until late April at the soonest...
...while in the end, the major things that will determine this election are a) Iraq, and b) the economy. Obama is more likely to pwn McCain, I think, but I think Hillary would still have the upper hand too.
The GE polls today giving McCain the edge mean absolutely fucking nothing.
There's still a loooooong eight months away. Anything can happen, good or bad, on either side, that we have no clue about.

I WAS SO EXCITED but then I read it carefully, and indeed they were NOT referencing the March Forth Marching Band. How boring.
At Spitfire tonight you'll actually be able to watch the results on multiple TV's and HEAR them, AND get a drink quickly. Good times. Happy hour starts at 4pm. And you can eat some killer food while waiting for all the numbers to come in. Free wi-fi too, and plenty of outlets, so you can really geek out watching the TV and The Slog.

What the hell is the Washington Bus? I got a bad impression of them at the Super Tuesday slog event at MOE. Bus reps gave buttons and talked to the white people on either side of my table but completely skipped dark skinned me. Is Washington Bus some sort of liberal white supremacist group?

And if your @6 is correct, Obama wins big. Clinton doesn't need a near-tie; she needs huge victories everywhere. If Texas is 51-49 Clinton, and OH is 53-47 Clinton, Obama wins the nomination.

Delegates for legislative district caucuses were elected at precinct caucuses. State convention delegates and national convention delegates will be elected at legislative district caucuses.
One cannot elect legislative district delegates at the legislative district caucuses because the legislative district caucuses are only open to the legislative district delegates.

I can see why you would like that to be the definition of a Clinton victory. Most people would argue, however, that if she wins TX and OH, by whatever margin, she has enough momentum to stay in through the convention. Regardless of the actual delegate count.
Whereas if she loses both TX and OH most observers believe she should consider conceding. Regardless of the delegate count.
If it's a split decision, then who knows what she should or will do. Though I believe in that situation she'd probably stay in through PA.
Approximately half of Democrats, even the larger pool of Democrats who have shown up this year for primaries and caucuses, want HRC to be President. Save the coronation ceremonies, Obama supporters.
